Hey guys. Im looking for the right camera. K+ for good halpful answers.


Im looking for something under 500 and maybe I could do a bit more like 550.
I want something that takes decent photos for ap photography
high quality video that has some kind of stabilization
^^^ uncompromising frame rate and high quality definition
something that is worth the value (I dont want to find out later I couldve spent 50 more dollars and had a -----bunch more useful features
a good lcd thats easy and useful

I currently have a gopro black 3+ but i want something a bit more professional and I need a camera for photography so I also want something that will work very well for skiing.

I see some deals for a T5 T3i 5200 and 3300....

What specs should i look at? What accessories or gear should i also consider buying?

That is the dumbest shit I've ever heard. That exam must be a joke.

That being said, I would find a used t2i or t3i with a 35mm f/2 or 1.8 and a 50mm f/1.8. Then buy some fast cards, a tripod, extra batteries, etc.

Buy a T3i
50mm 1.8 glass
SD Cards
Extra Battery
Tripod
Glidecam (if skiing or action sports (running/movement))

This should be around your budget, might have to buy some used stuff. But it will be more than enough to get you started and building your gear.

no no no, this is all wrong IMO,

Go buy a used Canon 60D, and then snag a 50 or a 35.

Dont go buying the cheap shit cause everyone has it on here, The 60D is vastly better and still hella affordable (300$ if you look arround).

I would also suggest looking into vintage primes simply because they are such tanks and they are so cheap.
I would snag a canon 35mm 1.8 and a vintage 50 1.4 and a converter and you are so set.

Dude the only difference between the t3i and 60d is the build and the clickwheel. Same exact sensor. Same images. I own the 60d and I'm saying that you can find a rebel for cheaper and it will give you the same images.

No i know, i also have a 60D (aswell as my new 7d2) and I personally think, after having used both for both photos and videos the 60D is much better.

It isnt just the build quality (which is stellar) and the clickwheel (which is also really really nice).

The 60D has more cross type AF points for taking photos, and it handles ML better IMO and i think it is a more reliable camera in general. I have killed 2 different Txi's (T2i & T3i) while on shoots and the 60D has never had a hiccup. It is a fucking tank.

I personally think the AF on the T series is straight fucking trash. Yeah, it works, but it hunts for decades.

The 60D was a killer cam for all arround use. And the OP specifically said he wanted a good cam for both. I would not suggest a T series to anyone looking to do photography, i just think having a few buttons doing multiple things makes you learn how to use the buttons more than it makes you learn to use the camera.

If OP goes with 60D, they make cheap battery grips on Amazon (35$) and then get some Wasabi Batteries (LP-E6 is 25$ish for 2) and then i personally think that is all you need to get into Photography and Video at the same time.

I just dont see the value in spending 50-100$ less on a T series when you could pick up a 50D/60D/70D for not much more.
