Patagonia wool factory accused of animal abuse

I just fail to see how we still need to use animals for their fur anymore. Primaloft thermoball is just as good and just as compactable as goose down and pretty much every synethetic is just as good as animal wool and fur.

But I'm glad to see Patagonia taking full responsbility.

Why not use something renewable and natural, that we've been cultivating for thousands of years rather than some petroleum products?

Well for insulation, primaloft has met the blue sign criteria. If you don't know what the blue sign is it's pretty much maximin productivity and enviromentally friendly. So there is zero reason to use goose down. Thermoball by primaloft is just as good and is more enviromentally friendly than goose down, without the animal cruelty part.

And as for fake fur. Yeah I guess you just can't win on that front. You either have to destroy the earth with petrouleum based products or you have to use animal products. It's kinda fucked.

As long as the animals are treated humanly I don't really have a problem. That's why I was shocked when Patagonia was accused of this. All the high end outerwear companies try to use ehtical practicies. But I guess you cant control the bottom line of employees who hate their life.

how can something from an animal be less environmentally friendly than a plastic product? thermoball is a polyester based material. polyester is plastic which is a petroleum based product. your argument holds no ground. I dont really care what stamp a company has put on their product it is still being created from synthetic petroleum based materials.

as long as the down or fur is produced in a humane way ie. sheeps grow wool, cut overgrown wool, and geese produce feathers, pluck feathers, I think that is a much more "environmentally" conscious way of creating a product.
