Replying to What happened to skiing just to ski?

Sk11ng_Ian:
So many skiers these days are only focusing to go pro, get sponsored, etc. But what happened to the people who live to ski but have no intent of any of that. I love to compete in freeride events and winning is the best feeling and losing sucks but I don't understand why some people take it so seriously. Nobody can just go up to the mountains to ski and have fun. all of them wanna go up to the mountain and show that they are the best.

At competitions some kids are so caught up in winning they wont even ride with friends or anything just for fun. Skiing is such a social and fun sport/lifestyle. some people just don't realize that being the best isn't as important as loving what you're doing. doesn't mean you shouldn't compete or try to improve because the best kind of conversations are ones with people who are just as stoked on skiing as you are. And we the hell wants to always ski alone?
