Basically, I have this idea that I've been playing around with for a while, and after lurking NS for so long I have finally gathered the courage to share it with the community
So what we have here is what is is going to save Big-air from continuing it's downward spiral. By building a medium-large park feature jump, and putting controllable rockets on it, a skier can then enter the contraption and hover to heights greater than petty ski-resorts. Once the desired height has been established, the contraption will hover in-place and the skier will then proceed to hit the jump. BUT! As the skier comes off the lip, the thrusters will reduce power significantly, causing the contraption to accelerate downward at 8.24m/s/s. Mathematically, this would impose the same relative gravity for the skier with respect to the landing of the jump, as the moon does in respect to an astronaut.
Of course, saftey is a concern for the sport, so the whole thing would obviously have netting around it
And I respect that the technology isn't quite there yet, but I think in 5-7 years time these kinds of contractions will be commonplace in skiing
