BurgyI was on some Talismans last season and I really enjoyed them, they're a supper fun ski with the perfect mixture of softness and stiffness. I beat them up skiing park, east coast backcountry and just about everything with them last year. I had to make some typical repairs, but they're still holding on and ill be using them again this season.
Im pretty sure revision made they're edges and base even thicker for this season(2.2mm edge and 1.6mm base as said above) so they'll be even more durable.
.lenconThey were 2.2x2.2 last season too. No updates
TallxTNah last year edges were 2.0mm and bases were 1.3mm
.lenconOh my mistake. I was looking into them last year and k swear it was 2.2 edges
.lenconI love Kartels and highly recommend. Sadly ON3P doesn't do any deals that I know of but you can check last years stock for some deals. If price is an issue then maybe revision is a better way to go. But ON3P does use better materials.
TallxTOn3p uses 2.5mm edges and 1.8mm bases
Revision uses 2.2mm edges and 1.6mm bases
I've never been on the Kartels but the obviously seem to be a bad ass ski consistent with the quality you come to expect from ON3P especially considering the price you pay.
If you aren't hitting a lot of rails then i don't think you're going to have issues by sacrificing the .3mm on the edges. Many established brands use materials more like Revisions. ON3P is the exception here. As for sizing I don't see why you wouldn't go with the 176 Talismans as well if thats the size you're considering for the Kartels. I hear you on the tail rocker but the difference would be so minimal in my opinion and with all mountain riding I'd definitely prefer to have a little extra behind me but thats probably because i'm a terrible skier.

Chubz.I'm pretty sure on3p does do pre orders but they're not gonna be anywhere near 275. In my opinion you're comparing apples to oranges here. I'm sure revision makes fantastic skis but they're too young of a brand for me to put my money into. On3p is arguably the most regarded ski company on Newschoolers and having a pair of Kartels I can say that you will not be disappointed with quality. They are the most solid skis I've ever clicked into.
That being said..Revisions have caught my eye and they look like fun skis. Maybe in a few years I'll pick up a pair and try em out.
I'm sure that you will be happy no matter what ski you choose.
