Windows 10 activation key

Hi NS,

I just upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 on a bootcamped mac, but it doesn't let me do much without activating it first. Does anyone know where I can get a code (without spending 120$ on it from Microsoft) or get around having to use it?

Install windows 7 or 8/8.1. Go to mydigitallife forums, register, then download the tool (autoKMS?). It will be stickied/obvious. This will activate windows with 1 click. Now go to control panel, then windows up. Install and restart until you get the windows icon on the start bar. Click it, reserve your copy, and wait while it does it automatically. Alternatively, you can download the ISO direct from Microsoft and double click to install (did this on my surface).

^ As he said, but remember to turn off all the Windows 10 privacy-invasion things.

There is a reason this is a free upgrade, and it has nothing to do with the some kind of charitable spirit.

MS are doing a google, and without carefully going through the privacy menus every single thing you do on Win10 will be sold to ad-agencies.

Good to know. I figured I wouldn't bother with windows 10 until I'm back at school where I have fast internet. Picked up a surface last week though, and I don't have any files on it yet, so I figured it couldn't hurt to do all the updates/maybe it would get better battery or something. Seems cool so far, but I haven't had too long to play around with it.
