Replying to Best way to exhibit work and get noticed

I am currently studying graphic design and am about to be a junior in college. At the moment I am trying to create a place to showcase my work. unfortunately I don't have much money to my name so I am interested in using free sites like wordpress and Instagram. What is the best way to establish ones work/portfolio so that I can gain some recognition. SHould i just focus on getting internships? Any feedback would be great (Even if its about how much of dingus I am) cheers
