who cares... years ago there was the big banning smoking in restaurants and bars and public places.. people got all pissy about it and now no one cares.. people will still smoke like they always have there.. it just wont be in the open..

But really, I didn't even think this was news really but everyone is freaking out on facebook like nobody will be able to smoke and the swat team will swing out of trees and shoot you in the face if you try and smoke a bowl.

People don't seem to grasp that this would simply be a PR move. Families spend a shit ton of $$$ to ski vail. Mom is concerned that her kids will be exposed to druggies everywhere because weed is legal in Colorado. This may be unwarranted as there is weed at every mountain, and her kids are probably already hooked on cocaine, but it will make her feel warm, fuzzy, and not at all worried about booking their yearly ski getaway to vail.

The weed will still be there. Eagle vail is right there. It's barely even a drive. Unless the weather is completely fucked, it's not a big deal driving 5 min past dowd junction.

I literally don't think anything will change from this. But it's funny to read the melts on facebook and people try to recite their I remember my first bowl facts about marijuana prohibition.

Feel free anyone to correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't smoking weed at vail already illegal? Isn't it on federal land not state? Therefore fed laws come before state laws. Or something like that.

But for real, smoking weed is pretty much banned everywhere in every ski resort. It's not like Vail is all like OMG guys come smoke some weed at our resort.

This would be the town. All it is is to ban shops from selling weed in the town. Which really doesn't even matter. It's pretty damn accessible there. Sure it would be more convenient for people if there was a shop there, but it's like a 5 minute drive and you can buy it. Not THAT big of a deal, and not that surprising.

Smoking was never allowed on the mtn anyways, just means people will be coppin that greenery outside the town and bringing it in. Doesnt quite solve the problem.

Smoking weed is banned by law at almost every ski area in the US. And by Colorado law cause out in public. PR is a funny thing

the minute resorts that "ban" smoking actually act upon those rules, then I will be scared. but in the meantime, getting stoned in plain sight might be the dumbest shit a person could do. really. if they start sending search parties with hounds into the woods to get people, then we should be up in arms.

its the obvious bullshit that is attached to this legalization movement, but we just have to sit back and at least respect a businesses rules. Definitely not the end of the world, seems like the only people getting mad are the douchey posers (like the ones in the inside edition) that just muck up the fun for everyone.

Well as a business of Vail's size, more is always better. I prefer my ski towns a bit more empty than Vail.

Would you consider Vail a more liberal or conservative town in general?? I know a lot of the people who are actually from there have open minds about it, but a lot of the wealthy out of state homeowners/people who run the show aren't even entertaining the idea of having it sold it town because it would piss off all their conservative investors. I mean because.. marijuana is more harmful than alcohol.. and pizza is still a vegetable
