As for people dying from the fallout, it's a grey area b/c there actually have been reported deaths from sailors, including from leukaemia and there has atleast been a large amount of people becoming ill and having bad symptoms, Japan's former prime minister agreed with a group of sailors who are suing tepco. In his words, "Those who gave their all to assist Japan are now suffering from serious illness… I learned that the number of sick people is still increasing, and their symptoms are worsening"

mirozAbsolutely. And I won't (and can't) defend the point that no one was affected by the Fukushima radiation. I'm not aware of the effects of the fisherman/sailors but I'm not surprised that they bore the brunt of the effects because the fallout plume blew westward, out to sea. I'm sure we'll learn in the coming years of more effects that took longer to manifest themselves. That doesn't discount the facts that (a) the vast majority of people that could have been affected were not, and (b) people died during the rushed evacuation, an unnecessary outcome that resulted from emergency standards that were not justified by modern science.
While plutonium was definitely emitted, there wasn't too much of it. The plutonium is not gaseous, and most of it is still inside the (probably melted) nuclear fuel, wherever that is. You can find plutonium anywhere on the planet due to atmospheric atomic weapons testing, and the highest levels detected around Fukushima were about 10 times the global average. So the Pu contamination is definitely worth noting, but you should know that it's other radioactive isotopes like cesium that are much more likely to prohibit re-habitation of nearby communities. You're unlikely to inhale Pu unless it's airborne (which it's not, it settles).
Barely elevated levels of radiation were only detected in the US in the first few months after the accident. The fallout was greatly diluted as it traveled across the ocean (big beyond comprehension) and in those months, many of the most radioactive isotopes in the plume decayed away. By summer, I'm pretty sure detecting radiation from Fukushima required especially sensitive experiments. The radiation in the WA state milk was barely above background and was only detected because radioactive Sr can replace Ca in bone, so milk is an important ingestion pathway and was monitored closely.

Though I've read different reports, you definitely added the word "leaking" to that article you posted, because it's not there. Nuclear power suffers plenty from people adding fantastical spin to it. You're not helping.
The most likely cause of the high radiation readings is that the detector got physically closer to the melted fuel than ever before. The farther away the measurement is taken from the source of radiation, the lower the reading. And even if the radiation levels in the contaminated water were increasing, TEPCO is storing and treating all of the water they pump through the reactors.

The rumors started with Syd Blumenthal's emails to Clinton, but the conspiracy neglects to acknowledge the rest of the emails included information that was questionable in terms of accuracy and reliability of the sources. Some of the other emails from Blumenthal suggested that Libyan elites were warming to Israeli interactions, European spy agencies wanted tribal leaders to declare a semi-autonomous tribal zone in the eastern half of the country, and were always from unnamed sources. Believing Syd Blumenthal's sources isn't a great idea when it comes to foreign relations.
Now, that is not to say France didn't have strategic interests in N. Africa. They obviously did and still do. But the prospect of a gold-backed pan-African currency threatening the French Franc (not the dollar) is foolish. Gold-backed currencies don't work in the modern day for a variety of reasons. One just has to look at the history of the Gold Standard to see how many issues came about due to it's presence.
