jstan4If it helps anyone out, a quick google search using the keywords "pew research islam sharia law us constitution" yields no Pew Center article with any statistic about any permutation of any question regarding how US muslims view the relationship between sharia law and the constitution. Interesting articles that did return: one giving an assortment of stats on Muslims, both basic and regarding attitudes.

The article does include a poll noting the % of muslims in 39 countries spanning africa thru the ME and to central asia that believe their country should adopt sharia law as the law of the land. Interestingly central asian muslims are significantly less so inclined than middle eastern muslims.

In light of this, I find it hard to believe that the statistic you quoted exists, and if it does, these countervailing stats indicate some nuance to your stat. However, if you can post the stat you found, I would of course take it into consideration.

To your second point, it is greatly due to Christianity that we have a lack of rationalism, even in modern US culture. The Renaissance was a re-birth of ancient Greek and Roman ideas: philosophy, logic, physics, metaphysics, biology, democracy, etc. are all Greek inventions. Without this classical re-invigoration, we would still think the universe was created in 6 days, that the Earth is flat and at the center of the universe, and earthquakes, famine, droughts, flooding, and diseases are all punishments from God. If Christianity has gotten anything right, it is by accident or plagiarism.

I think we would be far better if we combated Islam with reason and rational discourse, not another superstition based on faith rather than reason and evidence.

Islam punishes many such ideas with death.

Without a shared Christian European fervor to repel the muslim invader, the nations of Europe will be left to fight divided against a largely unified muslim front (at least at it relates to conquest and subjugation of the infidel).

You and I both know, that by and large, muslims will never assimilate (history provides ample evidence of this). As their numbers increase, the degree of assimilation falls significantly, until they soon will be assimilating you to their retrograde ideology, an ideology that should never have been allowed into Europe in the first place, and now must be purged like a dangerous disease.

The cure is there, it just seems people are more comfortable continuing to take the poison.
