I disagree about the firefighter thing in certain instances. My bro in law is a firefighter in a certain major city, makes 6 figs at 30years old, and his pension is 90% of his max salary. He works 2 on 3 off.
That is unrealistically good compensation that has come about because of their extremely strong union, not their actual worth.
Being a firefighter is really not that tough... physically, or in the actual work they do.
