The people that want Trump to show his tax returns, are the same ones who couldn't care less about her email and her lying. They have selective outrage. Taxes are allowed to be kept secret, it's in the law. But State Department email are not meant to be secret, it's in the law.
You seem stuck on the tax returns, like it's the only bullet you have left. The IRS agents can end their audit if it's that important. Also, the desperate criminals at the NYT were not authorized to release private tax information, especially when they claim the same business loss deductions in the millions as well.

You realise you have this massive debt that the middle class, you, me and pretty much everyone on this website has to pay because the rich manage to escape taxes using loopholes. Maybe, just maybe if we enforced our tax laws and made the rich pay their fair share of taxes we wouldn't have crumbling infrastructure and schools, among many of other problems the US has.
Look, I'm with you on that, the tax laws could use a major overhaul. I absolutely agree that all the loopholes (and various deductions) should be eliminated. A lowered corporate tax rate with no loopholes and only scarce deductions would be better than the current system.
That being said, I don't fault businesses and individuals that use the tax code in a legal manner. As it stands now, the tax laws are being enforced. The laws don't stipulate that the rich pay their "fair share". I, for example, take every tax deduction and credit I can get, I'd be an idiot not to.
The federal government, and state governments, have more of a spending problem than a revenue problem. While I'll agree that rich hedge fund managers can and should pay more, I want to see more waste and excess cut out of the federal and state budgets first. The whole "crumbling schools and bridges" problem is a result of government mismanagement more than a lack of resources.
Not to mention, it's a complete farce that Trump pays no taxes. There are various forms of taxation, it's not solely based on income tax. Think of all the people his businesses employ, he pays payroll tax for each of them. Not to mention the income tax that they then pay on that income that they receive through being employed by Trump.
Look, you can hate Trump all you like, but on a financial and legal level there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with anything that he's done. The loss deduction is a basic part of the tax code, it's just the amount that bothers people.
Now, taking a look at Apple and their triple Irish tax evasion over in Dublin, now that is an outrage. I don't see any leftists out protesting those rich liberals at Apple paying only 0.1% tax on their earnings.
With that said, Trump has vowed to reform the tax code, Hillary would like to keep it exactly as it is, but with higher taxes on the rich (which will have a minimal effect if all the deductions and such you're complaining about remain as it).

Infrastructure will always be crumbling because only the dumbest or laziest folks go to work for the government. Sad but true. If you're motivated and smart, you make more money and make more of a difference in the private sector.

The government needs to apply more private-sector practices to the employees it hires. One problem is the culture of public-sector unions, that resist all attempts to make them efficient, in favor of preserving the employment status of all their employees (even the bad ones). Teachers unions are a particularly egregious example of this.
There is also serious mismanagement of funds. As is often said, it's much easier to spend other people's money. Financial mismanagement in the public-sector needs to be tackled head on. First and foremost, the "use it or lose it" budgeting system of so many areas of the private sector needs to be completely eliminated, as it creates massive amounts of waste and unnecessary spending.

Never gonna happen. You are assuming everyone within the workforce is generally equally intelligent, qualified and motivated. That's just not true.
You ever try to manage dumb unmotivated people? Fucking sucks. But govt only pays so much so you can only get other dumb unmotivated people to replace them.
It's much more effective to hire smart motivated people than try to motivate and teach dumb and lazy.

However, to go back to something you said earlier, it's not always true that those in the private sector earn more than those in the public sector, often it can be the reverse.
Just one example is paramedics. Generally, the ones who work for private ambulance companies do far worse than those who work for a fire department.
