FrozinballzWhats the point you're? Ok ya no ones afraid of an 8 year old girl from Syria. That doesn't mean the U.S. should be a safe ground for people of other countries escaping their problems. They should fix it in their own country.
Yes I realize your response was to someone else profiling all muslims into one category, whoopdy doo. But the point is why try and decipher which ones are good and which ones are bad, why should that be our issue? Why should we spend our tax dollars on that?
It should be totally understandable why people at the moment lump muslims into a one category, there are MANY that are high danger. No doubt, I'm sure there are thousands of Muslims that I could be best friends with, but how are you supposed to know which ones are going to shoot up you and your family. It's not being racist to not want tons of Muslims coming into the country at the moment with all thats going on (ISIS). No its not racist, yes there are incredibly good muslim people, but lets take care of us first.
Its like having a house party with tons of people yet each time someone steals something really valuable, but you just can't figure out who it is to save your life, especially when everyone is so friendly. So do you keep having house parties because they are so fun, or do you quit throwing them because you know something of yours is going to get jacked? (here comes an over logical response from you telling me how you could definitely find out who the theif is and still throw a party, I'm generalizing so you understand my point)
Maybe all these people you defend and say the U.S. and its citizens shouldn't be afraid of should all stay at your house. The catch is you aren't able to protect yourself, and definately cannot own a gun (i know ur stance on that)
You down? Thats what I thought.
Sorry man, i know i went off topic and on a rant, just trying to understand and wrap my head around half the stuff you spit out.
The majority of women and children, hell, even men, cannot defend themselves in their own country. What can unarmed men and women do against armed militants? The pen is not always mightier than the sword. Ever hear of the Armenian Genocide? How about the Holocaust? Rape of Nanking? The Great Purge in Russia? The Rwandan Genocide?
This is what happens when the world turns a blind eye to events going around the world and does not step in.
Why? Because immigrants bring SO much to this country. Steve Jobs biological father was Syrian, Elon Musk is South African, Albert Einstein was German, Jerry Yang (founder of Yahoo) is from Taiwan, Andy Grove who founded Intel is Hungarian, the list just goes on and on and on.
The next person who could change the world may be sitting in a detention camp right now unable to do anything because of the bigotry we are seeing across the world.
No, there are not "many". We frankly have zero clue about how many Muslims can be classified as dangerous, and that is what scares people and understandably so. I have no problem with people admitting this, hell I will admit it myself. But just because a Muslim believes in Islam or even Sharia law does not mean they are a danger, just like a Christian who is anti-gay marriage and anti-abortion is not to be considered dangerous. There is something that sets humans apart from animals and its rationality. Apparently a lot of people have forgotten how to act rationally and it is showing.
Our lack of rationality has turned us towards blaming everyone else for our issues whether we understand the situation or not.
Problems in the workforce? It is the immigrants and China! Nothing is getting done in the government? It is Obama's fault! Problems with the economy? America is losing in trade to China and other countries!
Except all of those things are wrong.
It is not immigrants and cheap labor, it is a combination of automation (the majority) and cheaper labor. Except, that cheaper labor allows lower income families to afford those goods and services they would not be able to afford if they were being produced in the US. And before you give me the BS about how we should pay American manufacturers more, it wouldn't matter. Too many people are losing jobs to automation, even Foxconn in China is turning towards it.
We know the lack of things getting through the government being so partisan on both sides of the spectrum.
We also know America is not "losing" in trade to China. The deficit frankly does not matter as we are a consumption-based economy.

So, by acting irrationally in this situation, not only are we indirectly hurting countless men, women, and children, we are hurting ourselves by limiting our country. What made America great throughout history has been immigrants and how we assimilate their cultures and ideas into our country.
Except it is not similar to that party at all. Your party does not have a background check nor any requirement for who can come in and out.
The US government has a vetting system in place that attempts to look into the history of every immigrant and refugee who comes into this country. While that system is not perfect, alienating an entire group of people is not the correct response.
What is the answer to this vetting issue you may ask? I don't know to be honest. Probably a combination of stricter requirements for entry alongside stricter background checks and a better integration system.
But reverting to an intensely nationalistic approach is both dangerous and frankly harmful to our own country.
