Most employees were either African or South American, again, because they couldn't find enough locals willing to work there. I know guys who left their families and are living with 4-5 other dudes and sending almost all their wages home. Their families tell everyone their husbands are in jail because there is serious risk of kidnapping and exploitation by local gangs if they found out they had family working in Canada.
People move to Canada/US because locals aren't willing to work crappy, minimum wage jobs serving fast food or cleaning or crap like that. When people stop feeling entitled to good jobs and refuse to work those jobs (especially kids who are just starting out in the job market), then maybe companies won't source employees from elsewhere.

Judaism would have survived in the US (assuming that small country didn't try to invade them) and other territories that were neutral. Would much of the history been lost? Yes, but it would not have been completely lost.
It is not impossible to kill an ideology, but it is extremely difficult. Sure, thousands of years ago, hell, even a few hundred years ago, you saw some smaller ones lose disappear in the physical sense, but the ideology still remains through history.
