Do pro riders actually ride the infamous?

Heard some pros on the atomic team just ride the older model of the punx with a refresh look that visually looks like the infamous. Is this true or just some ns bs

Is there even any evidence that pros don't ride the infamous? Or is just one of those wive tails that originated on NS???

i don't know about the infamous with regards to the Atomic team but i know that this is pretty common in the ski industry for example Noah Bowman rides the Salomon pro pipe but it has the nfx graphic, so i wouldn't be surprised if it is true

Think your a little confused there. Salomon used to do some pretty custom stuff for there riders but the NFx most of the team ride are Stock.

Ad as for the imfamous yeah quite a few of tem ride stock versions.

There's a shot of Keefer riding a pair of infamous with a duct taped tip in the first Coterie edit, so that pair is definitely real

I know for sure that durtschi rides the infamous I asked him about other pros riding punx with an infamous top sheet and he was like "no wtf"

on a scale of ON3P's to Suspects I would rate them closer the the original afterbangs since they both have tip/tail delams all the time

The infamous is the only ski i can think of that has had more widespread problems than the suspect. It seems like almost every person that uses them gets delam problems, and fast too. Id put it just barely above the suspect only because delam isnt as bad as edge ripping out.

While I don't know if he does or doesn't actually ride the Infamous, theoretically he would not ride his signature ski because Atomic wants to make their price point park ski look more legit by making it appear that it can hold up for the pros, and making it a signature ski is the easiest way to do that.

False advertising is illegal last time I checked...

How are ski companies allowed to do this? Obviously it's tough to really police it but really that is the biggest advertising they do, paying people to ride their skis. Seems kind of wack that they can do it and get people to buy a worse product.

Yeah thats kinda a weird situation because I doubt anyone would go through the trouble to contact the Federal and State Advertising Regulation Agency because they're mad their low price point ski de-lamed and was supposed to be pro approved. Atomic really isn't promising us anything or falsely advertising anything either: "THE ATOMIC INFAMOUS IS OUR AFFORDABLE BUT FULLY LOADED PARK SKI." Durable isn't in there sadly. But yeah for sure I do wish we knew about "modded" or "slightly changed specs" to the ski for the rider if they even exist in this case. But for the most part its not a huge issue for the industry as of now.

Honestly, both of these statements are correct in part. I'm not going to name names because that isn't my place but there are guys on the team riding the stock ski but there are also guys riding what is clearly a full sidewall, narrower and much stiffer ski (with the infamous graphic). I've literally held the latter in my hand and flexed them and they have neither the same dimensions nor flex pattern as infamous and it isn't a stock punx either.

What you guys need to remember is for the very top athletes the brands want to give the rider every chance of winning. If this means making slight modifications tey will but I most cases a lot of pros ride the same skis you or I could buy. I think what is confusing a lot of people is prototype skis. Often when a brand is testing new skis they don't want to really show them off so tey very often use an old top sheet. Salomon did this with the rocker 122 durin testing, those skis had czar top sheets but were clearly twin rocker. It's not the brand tryin to describe you either. Very often what the pros want is almost the opposite of what people want to buy, ie really stiff. We have some custom skis in the shop from riders and I can garentee you, you would prefer the stock version on nearly every case.

I know of at least one brand that makes a high-end park ski but their team riders are on a differently built though visually identical ski.

Volkl found this with the Kuro when the pro's wanted two sheets of metal in it, nobody else did though. I have the AD model Dynastar Legend pro 105's which are the same spec as his FWT ones and I love them, then again I am a fat bastard so can flex them, my skinner mates weren't even brave enough to have a shot.

Like Tom and Matt have have said what most pros have in a ski is similar to FIS stock race skis, they all like different set ups and tailor them for different settings and courses.

Theres a reason a stock ski might be a touch different, it has to be sold in a shop or online where anyone can buy it.
