Rugby world cup 2015

There probably aren't too many rugby fans on NS but with the world cup coming it pretty threadworthy.

Apart from new zealand being obvious favourites it's pretty up in the air in both the northern and southern hemispheres with only marginal differences between the other teams.

With australia beating south africa recently and a close six nations with Ireland coming up on top ahead of england it should certainly be a decent watch.

The usa and canada could be surprise packages with both starting to put out some decent teams

We're heading towards the warm up fixtures now and new zealand play south africa today in the rugby championship (it should be a really close match SA are up 7 - 3 in the first half).



So anyway its just a thread to share rugby stoke and team news etc.

Big win over SA this morning - they're looking pretty deadly though, as expected. Sapoaga went well, considering what he was thrown into. Kicking was a bit sketchy - maybe just nerves.
Main concern at the moment would be the sheer depth in the entire nz squad. The amount of good players competing for each position, especially those in the midfield, has the potential to cause a lack of cohesion in the eventual starting XV. Early days, though

i really thought SA had it to be honest, it wasn't even a case of NZ magic stealing it at the last minute, they should have closed that game. However that lineout was some real class. Either way SA are a good enough team to have capitalised on the yellow card and scored the points to put NZ out of it.

Australia - NZ should be a really interesting one

I just played against Nili Latu (Captins Tonga). Hits realllllllly hard... USA I feel like is close but yet far away to being really good. They need just a couple more guys to be playing rugby overseas full time and that would really help with experience. But who knows how the ball will bounce and sometimes you can get lucky and it changes the game. Really looking forward to the World Cup tho!!!

Midfield and back three depth is incredible. But even with all our depth, we cannot afford to lose Aaron Smith. I don't think we have a viable back up in the 9 jersey.

My place in London is looking like bloody hostel housing half of NZ during the World Cup.

I fucking love watching rugby, but I only ever really watch the internationals, namely of course the six nations. I blame Rupert Murdoch.

Pretty hyped for this. I realised that next week I will have spent precisely half my life in England (the previous half in Scotland), and as much as I try to like the English rugby team I'm always quietly happy when they lose haha. Mainly because supporting Scotland is always going to be a disappointing experience...

Never realised I had so many friends.

Yep. Final, semi-final. And hopefully head to Cardiff for a weekend - Work dependent. And a few pool matches.

On an somewhat related not, I also have about half of Australia living in and out of my place at the moment to follow the Ashes. Came over expecting a 5-0 whitewash and now 2-1 down.

I have been regularly woken to a bunch of drunken poms gloriously chanting "Get your shit stars off our flag"
