Cracked ski

I just got a new pair of Armada Bdogs at the end of last season. I've only skied on them about 5 times in the winter and just went to liberty mountain snowflex for 5 days, and when I was their I noticed that on both of my skis they cracked right by the blades. I don't remember doing anything that would have cracked the skis and I was wondering if there is any way I could fix them. I am trying to do something with armada and hopefully they are just defective skis and they will send me a new pair. but I would like to try to fix them before sending them back. Any ideas on how to fix them?

Is it just the edge that has cracked? If you have been riding rails edge cracks are almost inevitable and luckily they wont do much harm so long as they dont start to pull out from the rest of the ski.

If you are riding rails a good edge detune is always strongly recomended, but edge cracks will happen.

if you mean by blade the edge, its something that happens to all skis you hit rails with. not much you can do to fix it, and armada will not refund you for and edge crack. however if the edge gets to the point where it is going to fall off you can do either 2 things.

1. let em go and just ride them till they bust. also what i do when the base of the ski (where the edge is ripped out) starts to warp/get dislodged is i fill it with marine epoxy to clamp it up

2. if you are willing to put in time, you can place the fallen off edge back in the ski. there was a thread on newschoolers showing someone doing that. but i find this not as efficient as the edges are going to come out with continued use of skis on rails

right under the boot the ski is cracking in half. the blade isn't falling off or anything the ski it literally splitting in half.

So you mean the sidewall? The part on the side above the edge. If that is cracked ten yes you have done damage. Did you have any big falls. Seems strange it would do it in both skis. Skis are made individually so for you to get two faulty ones which broke in the exact same place sounds unlikely not impossible though.

yes the sidewall, and no I don't remember any falls and I've only had the skis for a couple months..

See if they will warranty them for you if they dont feel safe to ride or are just not right anymore. I'm currently riding a cracked/core snapped ski and its alot softer than the other and now rocketed but it hangs in there, I wont hit bigger jumps with a cracked ski but they're alright for cruising until get a new pair sent out. (I usually dont have to send mine back since I'm a lifty)

Same thing happened to me with 2 pairs of lines and they wouldn't do shit about it. They told me "once you have ridden your skis our warranty is voided" which pissed me off but I'm not sure if armada has better customer service. Hope you can get at least a deal on a new pair

Why does that piss you off? It's true. Once you start slamming pieced of wood into metal pipes, they start falling apart. If Line, or any company for that matter, covered skis for damage like that they would go out of business.

Manufacturers warranty fuck ups on their end. Not on yours.

Armada didn't warranty my snapped ski because it was broke during a fall so they categorized it under user damage

Yes I know that once you have done rails the warranty is done but I hadn't hit any rails or boxes before this happened, the first pair it happened first day out and there was no park set up. I was just riding and the sidewalk just essentially came apart

Well if you really have cracked the sidewall then you should look into a warrenty.

Dont contact armada, take them back to the shop you got them from and they will sen them back for you. Brand prefer to work with shops rather then info aul so it will be much easier of a shop send them. If you got them online take them to your nearest armada dealer but expect to have to pay.

If you really have not had any big falls and the cracks just happened then they will possibly get warrantied but so be ready for them to say it user error, unfortunatly most times skis break it I down to user error but send them in and see.

I've had a old pair on skis that blades came out on both skis with in a week and they gave us full money back.i got the armada's off evo so I don't know what they will do..

That is a base and edge delamanation. is it the same I both skis? Without inspecting the skis myself it's hard to say what the readon for it is but have you been riding these on rails? Still worth taking them to a dealer I would say and have them take a look.

Yes I do, But yesturday I was thinking and I use them on my summer drop in. So I I was watching some vidoes of slow mo of me going off the drop in and I noticed how much my skis bend when im going off the jump to get onto the rail. Could the constant bending of my skis when im going off the jump effect them and cause them to crack? I go on my drop in for about 2 hours every day so this could be a problem.. Both skis are cracked so I found that to be a little weird.

If I had to guess I would imagine you had done some slight damage to the edge an maybe sidewall. This could have let in water and this has help the base eventually delaminating. In terms of warrenty it will come down to why it happened. If there is clear impact damage it will more then likly be user error but there is a possibility it's a manufacturer defect. Take tem to a dealer to let them have a look.
