MaineLandCollabdo any of you have a clue? 35k is nothing...... to get an app like this fully functional, with users I would imagine cost's to be in the 200k realm.
I think the main problem here is that it doesn't even seem like they have the app functional at all. like they haven't really started and they're already planning a trip to south america and large advertising deals with resorts.
My suggestion would be to make the app free, first. you might want to charge money for it if you were trying to filter out the less serious people, but the people who would be downloading this is already slim enough. second, offer a remove ads option for a price, but you can still have a "promotions" part of the app that can still bring customers to the shops that advertise. Third, forget South America, at least for now. theres no way $3000 could fund a trip for you and your friends of photographers along with cost to rent or own a high resolution camera for billboard shoots. maybe plan for the idea further down the road, but try to actually get the app going before you start thinking about that. The best way i would say to get the app going is to find a developer who also believes in the idea and offer them a percentage of equity in the company. This is all just how i would go if i were planning a startup, but there isnt going to be any trips to South America, thats for sure, theres going to be too much work for you to have time for that.
Final note: kickstarter is good for initial funding, but you should also seek out real investors. They're where you'll find the real funding. also, they'll (mostly) be professionals with a stake in the company, that now want it to succeed and will help you.
Good luck! it would be interesting to see how an app like this would do!
