David Wise

David Wise seems like a super unique guy who doesn't get very caught up with the ski industry. He seems like a pretty laid back guy and he kinda does his own thing. Plus he can hold his own in halfpipe competitions. I respect him for what he does and his character. What do you guys think of him?

He is in no way underrated. Ask anyone who is the best pipe skier right now and 4/5 will say Wise or TYW. That is not exactly being underrated.

Used to not really like him cause something he said in an interview that made it seem like he only cared about skiing cause he could win comps, but since then I've come to like him more. Not a huge fan of his style, but he's a great skier.

I don't know that underrated is the term. under-appreciated by park riders for sure though in my opinion. that sw 12 on the table in the video was fuckin $$

David is the man. Super stoked on keeping it local, and always down to chat for a quick second if you run into him. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact he's so grounded in his faith and family. 100% respect for him, not to mention he skis my fav skis, and my home resort Northstar.
He's been pretty big in the Reno/Tahoe area for a few years now, and the governed of Nevada even authorized a "David Wise Day" after he took home the gold. He's stayed pretty humble by making sure skiing isn't his only priority imo.

Underrated in the skiing community is what OP probably means. Like the sport doesn't respect him or something. I think in the competition skiing realm he's well credited because he kills it and wins a lot of stuff so people can't say he's bad. I think skiers who value style over technicality don't appreciate him that much because he isn't "stylish" enough or he looks like a "robot." What I don't think the film skiers and the style skiers realize is that they are essentially striving to do the same thing. They both want to contribute something different to the sport that not many people have seen before. I mean creativity is doing something that people don't already do and David wise has lots of tricks that no one else does. Thats why he's the best at what he does

He is in no way underrated but under appreciated in the ski community, especially by park skiers like NS. He doesn't get a lot of attention outside of pipe really. Sick skier, but don't enjoy his style too much.

Yes exactly! And I would say the better word overall would be under appreciated like everyone said.

I would agree with whoever said it above, he's not underrated but maybe unappreciated. Wise is a great guy. I have the utmost respect for him. Amazing skill and a humble athlete.
