OregonDeadIf you're driving it to and from the hill, I would say get something that you can do some shit to yourself (legacy/impreza/wrx) if need be because foresters like many other suvs, require a hell of a lot of upkeep and don't like to be abused in a sense of getting to the hill asap on a nice sunday morning.
just my input though, if you want a forester you want a forester. I just would ask a few questions about the plates.
theabortionatorAll cars require upkeep. IMO foresters are on the better side of that. They seem to hold up well. Maybe not quite as good as an old honda civic or early 90s toyota tacoma, but they do pretty well and I'd throw them on the list of cars you can run forever.
Also, I try not to abuse my cars. I need a car to go places, and I try to take care of it to make sure that happens.
OregonDeadDon't know why my name is showing up when you quoted dane. Oh well. For what it's worth I've got a forester and it is a great ski car.
dane_wizwillardHonestly I wouldn't. You would be better off with a legacy or something, possibly a small 4x4 japanese truck would be a better bet. Don't get me wrong, the forester is a pretty fucking amazing vehicle (drove one up to my local hill in bunk as shit conditions and it was awesome) but I can't imagine the same awd platform in a car would feel that much different.

cobra_commanderAlso could easily be facing a blown transmission in a few thousand miles. ~$3000
theabortionatorWhat is with people to day? This is the second time where I said something that was imo completely reasonable and somebody quoted me saying "can't tell if serious" "can't tell if sarcasm"
Also I don't even know why you quoted me honestly, or why you wrote any of that to me.
ABallsIt's newschoolers, deciding whether people on here are serious or not is a challenge.
crotchventForesters are built on the impreza platform so they drive pretty similar. If you look at the first gen foresters compared to the same generation of impreza they look the same inside just outside has a wagon added to it.
dane_wizwillardthat's my point. It's taller, and heavier.
