McLSIf you can rent a pow pair for a day, do it (if it's a good pow day), it'll be much more fun with wider skis (and less tiring). If you're not a very good skier, try to rent some, you'll have a hard time in knee deep with 88 underfoot... But if you're a good skier, I say just go for it with your park skis, if you've never done any pow you need to learn anyways, and once you get more comfortable, rent a pow pair to have some real fun on a big pow day. I shredded pow once for a whole day during a ski race trip, had 189 GS skis (around 68 underfoot) and there was a good 60cm of pow. Fell over quite a bit, and my legs were sore af at the end of the day, but still was tons of fun.
Mr.BishopYeah you can do whatever you want on any type of ski, but something built for those conditions is a lot more fun. I highly agree with trying to rent pow skis if you have a really good day... they are a huge pile of fun.
McLSYeah, of course, it'll be much more fun with some pow skis, but if he doesnt wanna buy some yet, then improving in pow with park skis is fine. Renting is optimal though, maybe it'll him wanna get a pow pair
