jps2.0How many skis do pro skiers get from their sponsors, I am talking guys like bobby Brown, joss, etc?
Craig114I only got one set of skis. Then again I'm only sponsored by Target. And I guess I'm not sponsored by target at much as I just work there. And I guess I also have been riding the same skis for 3 seasons. So in my expert opinion pros at my level get .333333 sets of skis per season. O also they were one season old when my sponsor hooked it up
Hope this helps!
TheBigAppleI'd guess 10 to 20 a season.
tomPietrowskiUnless they were testing new prototypes etc that would be a lot of skis. Most of te bigger slope riders will probably ride no more then 5-6 a season. this may increase if riders have bad luck and damage somthing or if they ride a couple of different skis rather then just one main ski. In general though unless it the bigger comps like x or the olympics they won't have a huge stash of skis at their disposal. I have actualy had riders brought into the shop mid comp to grab new skis or boots as they broke somthing and did not have a replacment on hand.
gapersarefriendsthis brings up an interesting question, if, say, margetts walked into your shop during wsi and needed a new pair of pipe sticks asap, would he get them for free?
S.J.WBut then again, there's like 2 comps down under
S.J.WAlso, Karl uses one pair of Kartels 98's for urban and one for park per season.
FactionHi guys,
I'd say this very depends on the riders, what they ride and how many models they usually ski during the season. So guys are using 1 or 2 models when others needs 5.
Also, one rider will get new skis during the year depending on breakages but above all to test prototypes or when getting we replace their gear by next season ones.
Obviously a guy like Tim McChesney who spends a good chunk of his winter hitting the streets we'll go through many pairs than the ones shredding pow all season long.
So yeah, to answer the thread questions, let's say it goes from 4 to 10 pairs of skis.
Hope this helps a bit!
Swandog7I woukd say this is correct. It varies between riders and brands and models that the rider uses. If they shred pow, it is likely they will go through less whereas putting some work on a pair of urban skis or park skis may cause them to go through more a year

.lenconDidn't bobby brown and Gus kenworthy each go through a few pairs just at Big Air at x games?
.lenconI heard he snapped a pair, but don't take my word for it, I just heard that.
tomPietrowskiNo. Even with brand shops like the salomon shop here in whistler, salomon athletes have to pay. the shop is not run by salomon so they can't just take stock which belongs to te shop. What can happen is stock is taken and then replaced but this is not ideal as you have to quite often chase up the replacments. What I have done in the past is lend my personal gear to athletes. It's better for the shop and also good for me in the long run as you normally get somthing back as a thank you.
deNebwat??? That's impossible!
