Replying to Need a new tent

Campers/woodsman of NS, I am in need of a new tent and need some suggestions. Had a decent field and stream 6-8 person unit but it got sort of thrashed last year at peach fest.

That one was a bit too big for my liking, too much to lug around especially at montage hiking up to find a site and everything. Looking for something that will last awhile, with enough space for 2-4 people. Trying not to spend any more than $300 or so.
