cobra_commanderEarly October.
Shops have their full inventory in, and often the option to order additional options.
Sky.Great advice if your stupid enough to pay retail, I don't care how much money you have or how bad you wanna be "core" and support the industry. Paying retail on ski gear is just plain stupid imo

cobra_commanderif you want to save money on boots that's your business. I'd encourage people to save money else where if necessary to get the right pair of boots.
ggfski42While I agree paying retail for skis and most equipment is stupid. But Im curious, do you buy your boots from the internet? Because if you go to get fitted by a shop, but then leave and buy boots online, you are kind of an asshole.

cobra_commanderNo, it's a good way to make your specialty shops disappear.
it will also discourage designers and manufactoers from developing higher performan products.
if you want the product selection to be narrowed down to K2 AMP Force skis, marker M10 bindings, and Salomon impact 8 boots sold by idiots at sports authority and Sierra trading post you should follow cheapfuck's advice.
cobra_commanderOne of my favorite 'teachable moments' was ringing one dude up for $200+ in boot work (assessment, several punches and grinds, alignment). Right after I sent a guy out with a similar amount of boot work for free. When asked about it, I explained that was the cost of running to an online place to save $100 buying last years boot.

BoaxSummer/autumn. A good shop will sell you old stock cheap that fits your feet if they have something that will work. Plus you'll probably be the only customer there so you'll get good stress-free service. If they don't have something that will work then they'll ask you to come back in November when they have full stock.
