Cool but you still get good quality out of the hero 3+'s and hero4's as it is, so ill hold off till its cheaper. Cool camera, though.

I think it is positioned kind of weirdly, I would have anticipated it being cheaper with slightly lower specs, sort of an almost disposable cam that you can stick in really creative places. At that price I really don't think it's worth it to the average consumer, I mean, where can you stick that that you can't stick a hero 4? I'm sure GoPro will prove me wrong though.

Also, I'm really stoked for the fall release (assuming that happens again....) I'm definitely going to upgrade from my Hero 1 and maaaaaay consider the drone if it is reasonably priced....

Unfortunately that's set for October (maybe?) and I really need to upgrade by August...

coming from someone who did upgrade from a hero 1 to a 3+ and 4, it is night and day differences between the cameras, which probably explains why it may be more logical to just hold off and upgrade to a 3 or 4 for something much more reasonable.

I know, I have too many friends with the 4 that blow me away, I'm almost tempted to go for a 3+ for like $200 just so I can film summer stuff and then actually upgrade whenever the latest one comes out.

It has its purpose.

you can place it where the standard GoPro's size would be undesirable or dangerous.

Attaching this to a helmet can allow for some more creative placement. It also has the benefits of being a smaller signature that is less likely to get caught on trees or place dangerous torque on someone's neck in a fall.

Its reduced drag will also facilitate its use in monitoring actions such as driving and flight were drag is harmful.

I guess Hero4 session must bring lots of new accessories for that the size differ from the previous.

Awesome. They now have the freedom to maybe make a slightly larger version of the normal gopros intended for handheld filming. And I'm sure they could do amazing things with that.

It's not targeted towards the consumer though, that's what the Hero4 silver is for. The session is a nitch camera for filming pov sports. That's why they didn't replace the much more versatile hero4 Black with it.

Also, if a product is not targeted at a consumer, who is consuming the product?
I don't fully understand your point. the camera is likely targeted at production companies and upper-tier athletes that are generally more serious about their filming wants/needs. Their specifications for size may be more complex. but to say that there aren't average consumers out there that's won't spend $400 to buy this is asinine.

It is a good camera for light weight needs like attaching to smaller drones, paragliding lines, speedflying rigs, etc...

Just saw this the other day. Just sold my t3i. Will probably snag one just to wear when im riding my streetbike. Wouldnt believe how dumb these Utah drivers are. Must have spent more time in church than actually learning real life skills.
