Getting your wisdom teeth out

so im having my wisdom teeth out, here in about 2 hours lol. the dentist place said i could eat food until 11 o clock (which is in 15 min) but all other google answers say not to eat 12 hours before the surgery.

so am i screwed cus i ate food?

and how long does the numb feeling in your mouth last?

i had two teeth pulled when i was a kid and my whole face and nose were numb for the rest of the day.

anything to help me get through this ns fam?

ill be eating lots ice cream and apple sauce :(

you should be good if not they will likely just clean u out and perform the surgery... the numb feelong doesn't last to long. your lucky they didn't put enough numbing stuff in when I god a tooth pulled and it hurt like a bitch. but don't worry man youll be all good, enjoy the ice cream (;

The 12 hour no food thing is if you're going under general anaesthetic so you don't start throwing up and suffocate.

You're having local anaesthetic if he says it's fine to eat till only 3 hours before.

Its honestly not that bad dude I actually went out to a party the next night and had minimal swelling but I mean everyone reacts differently to the surgery. As for the no eating? You're gonna die RIP

Pretty sure they tell you not to eat to prevent nausea and possible vomiting after waking up from the anesthesia, I could be wrong though. Have fun with the pain medication after surgery

Take your pain meds and chill. Take your mind off the pain by watching movies or playing some video games.

It's really not all that bad. Just do what they tell you for recovery and you'll be back to normal in only a couple weeks.

Possibly. I've iced for about 5 hours straight after the dentist cut me open with local anesthetic. And Im not that swollen. If you rest up. And keep on top of your pain meds and antibiotics you could definitely go. the first 10 hours after surgery are probably the worse Cus you can't swallow much Cus your tongue and face are terribly numb.

I would say no head banging or making out with chicks Cus you don't want dry socket my friend

So I'm up writing this at 2am after taking my like 4th pain med. I've been in a lot of pain and will have to make this one last for another 6-8 hours :(

I barely got swollen when I got mine taken out, people didn't believe that I actually got them out.

But be prepared to get food stuck in those fuckers for a few months, it's annoying as all hell.

I had a small piece of bacon stuck in one of the incisions for almost three months. I was so confused why it wasn't healing

I was hurting so bad after I couldn't even talk. And I was feeling normal the whole time besides my arms and let's tingling. But I did ask him to get a vid of when they were cutting on me, and I think it's a vid of them putting the stitches in. I'll have him send it to me and then I'll upload it

Leagal answer yes,

Non leagal you'll probally be fine it depends if you're using anesthesia or laughing gas anesthesia you cant eat, laughing gas you can.

Holy shit dude, I was just going to make a thread about this. I have to get all 4 out in a few days. One of them is infected and the other 3 are growing sideways into my other molars. They never broke the skin. The dentist basically said my mouth is retarded. At least they are going to knock me the fuck out.

Wisdom teeth was a hilarious surgery for me, i got mine taken out when i was like 14 so they basically just cut the roots out and i was so god damn fucked up driving home with my mom. I was good in like 3 days though, got kinda swollen not too bad. The key is to keep the holes clean and dont use straws/smoke for a couple days.

Eheath how do you keep the holes clean? Putting salt water in your mouth and just trying your best using water to keep them clean?

salt water swishing AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. definitely after meals, the surgeon may have given you a huge syringe to load with salt water and spray on your sockets. this is super important.

i got mine out three weeks ago, very little swelling, no painkillers needed, general anesthetic, swished after every meal and whenever i could. fast forward to sunday morning, random soreness in my left bottom extraction site, by sunday night around 8 my left side was swollen like i had just gotten my wisdom tooth pulled, by 9:30pm sunday night i was in for emergency surgery to have the infection drained and now i am back on antibiotics and had to send in a sample of the infection to make sure itll be dealt with by the antibiotics i was perscribed

its definitely worth it, i know it sucks, tastes shitty, and even stings a little sometimes, but having to go back for an emergency surgery is not worth it.

So for months afterwards, after the stitches are gone, you'll get food stuck in the holes, it's super fucking annoying.

Got X Rays done today at the dentist and found out I actually have no wisdom teeth. The told my I was lucky. Op is unlucky have fun op!!!!!
