Why do kids my age get all wrapped up in ""relationships""

Sup ns (so first off the age group were talking here is like 17-18), so after Twitter was raging about how this dude cheated on his girlfriend and all this relationship crap, I'm wondering now what's wrong with people .

Like I like women and all, but this generation is all wrapped around the axel about relationship goals and think everything is so great, until ya end up with an std or all of a sudden boom the chick is pregnant or something.

So what is it that makes kids want these relationships? Is it the media over romanticizing it all? When in reality it's not all that great and ya really should be focusing on school and skiing? Jah feel?
Someone help me understand kids these days.

Nothing wrong with girlfriends, at 18 you're likely not going to Marry the first one because at lot is going to change in the next 12 or so years of your life, you'll likely not be nearly the person you thought you were going to be. However it can be good to have a girlfriend and learn some things along the way so that you know what you're doing when the right one comes along.

Not really. I've had several opportunities to make a Solid 7-8/10 (on the hotness scale) women to have a thing with them but I just don't feel it. While I agree with this, I also disagree. While I was in H.S. dating was never a priority, even in college it isn't. That being said, nothing beats coming home to my best friend, hanging out, and getting to introduce him to my favorite things. I've gotten I to sports and activities I would never thought I'd be into because of him.

Idk maybe I have a different view on this than others...but I think if your in a relationship regardless you should try to make it work.

One of my best friends started dating a chick in 11th grade in high school and now 2 years out of college they are still going very strong and probably getting married in the next few years.

Interesting point. Personally I'm with shin-bang on this one, I would rather ski and bike and jump off of tall objects than go through the stress of a relationship that likely won't last through the next year or so. I get the importance of emotional intimacy, but I do not believe that you need a formal relationship to achieve this, nor do most people my age get there in their relationships.
