Pro skiers are just soo damn boring these days! Their tricks are repetitive and boring. These days if you watch a pro edit you will see a bunch of flat 5s and corks with blunt grabs and that shit is sooo fucking unoriginal and goddamn annoying to watch.
Every am' in super unknown was hella impressive and creative. They showed us shots of things that we dont normally see in edits. They all had something new to offer to the sport! In some cases, the edits made us ask what has happened to skiing? Kellan Baker's edit did that to me. Some shots had some of the most afterbanged landings Ive seen in years. And all the fancy switch ups and fast rotations made me wonder why nobody can throw those down anymore.
Does anybody follow Drink Butter on instagram? I recommend them because they are really in touch with what the core of skiing is today? They show mini edits of amateur skiers that throw down far better than pro's can! Max Finn comes to mind.
Anybody heard of Simen gjelsvik? His new edit is only 2-3 minutes long but im pretty sure you havent seen almost all of the tricks done in that video before. Every shot is an absolute mind fuck!
Most of the kids on the Tall t team and Revision Team have so much damn creativity and style its ridiculous! In one instaedit, Keagen Kilbride throws down all these crazy double bios and stuff! All those kids fucking impress! Jason Stadler kills it! Quinn wolferman shreds! Sam Zahner throws down!
Anyone seen TallT Truday's? Shit is mostly lip blind Truu's (Truuuuuu) but the way they are done is sylish as hell! That crew fucking impresses! They are doing something right and whatever it is, it is interesting and makes me love skiing!
And dont get me started on all those guys over at Ruka! At one point it seemed like every other day I was watching someone land a trick that we all thought wasnt possible. Those guys are innovative as Hell and pushing the limits of what we can achieve on skis!
I can go for days about this but I have other things to do.
Im pretty sure most of these guys are am's but if some arent please correct me. Even if they are, they arent that well known and these guys need to get a lot more credit for what they are doing! They are keeping skiing alive for me as so many pro's are getting boring!
There are still pro's that are doing what these guys are doing which is great! Phil casabon, Henrik Harlaut, Vincent Gagnier, Adam Delorme, Ahmet dadali, Mike Hornbeck, Antti Ollila, Karl Fostvedt, and many others come to mind. Hell some people bash on steve stepp for not being able to double (he can) but his series are honestly one of the more interesting things to watch these days!
Many are afraid that quads will kill the spirit and soul of skiing. I believe that these amateurs are what's keeping it alive and awesome today!
Maybe Im wrong... I personally have the shittiest style at my mountain ( anybody at snowbowl will tell you that in a heartbeat!!). If you disagree, tell me in the comments.
