Hey there ns, I just wanted to let everyone in colorado (mainly the Denver area) to know that Echo mountain IS in fact going to open back up to the public this winter. I called the hotline earlier today and discussed a lot with the owner. They're going to be doing some races for skiers and snowboarders during the month of November. December 1st is the day that they are planning to re-open for everyone else.

Also, I was told that within the next month or 2 they're actually going to be selling "Extremely discounted season passes for 1 month" so all you dirtbags who are living on a budget can definitely rely on me for letting y'all know when that will happen.

Used to spend every Friday night in the winter at Echo, hopefully there's at least some degree of its former glory when it's reopened.

I'm on board with you. I started skiing the season that they sold so I've only heard rumors of how fun it is.

I hope they actually put some work into the park. I heard they sold all the rails and features so hopefully they spend decent money on new ones

stoked to hear this. they always had a creative yet sketchy fun park. I met Jamie Anderson there too which was one of the better things to happen for me at Echo haha.

sounds like they are still pretty racing focused and don't want to invest in a park yet. They seem open to a volunteer park crew though, hopefully somebody steps in.

Thats an awful shame, but doesnt suprise me all that much. What do you expect from the lady who shut down the hill to the public for a private racing hill? Gah that sucks so bad.

Should be an interesting transition. Figured they couldn't maintain a small private ski race hill for that long, Echo barely survived as a public hill when it was going. Had some killer times back in the day there, hopefully they bring it back to the glory days of sketchy Hell Wind Mountain.

nope, that was based on what they have on their website

We will NOT have a terrain park this year. We may have a couple features but we do NOT own any features. If individuals or a group want to create a terrain park we are completely open to discussions but do not want individuals buying passes with the expectation of a terrain park in 2015/16.

Assuming they got backlash from people after announcing the reopening without a park, and are scrambling to make a park. Not sure how good it's going to be, but I'd rather have my doubts and be pleasantly surprised than to have expectations and be let down with a poor park.

I believe the park features were sold off before the mountain went up for sale. I'm not 100% sure. That said it doesn't mean they won't have a park. But I wouldn't get your hopes up for it being like it was before.

Yeah, apparently they have changed it up since I last went (2/11 is when I went), but they have a ride on flat box, a urban on flat rail (it's only like 10', maybe shorter), an urban on down rail, and a rainbow rail. I'm not a fan of the rainbow rail, the lip isn't set up in such a way where it matches the slope of the rail so it seems kinda sketchy like you could catch a tip or something. There is also a jump set up with a small lip (maybe 5' or so, I didn't hit it) and a larger jump (10'-15'). I only hit it once because they closed it around 4:30 PM so I didn't get to gauge it well but it was decently made.

It's nothing like in years past sadly. It did look like there were some log features in the woods, but the run wasn't technically open and I didn't have my rock skis so I didn't try to poach it.

There are a couple of features that are lying in the woods near the park, it looks like it could be somewhat legit if they put up everything.

Also of note if anyone goes up - it seemed like the features were sticky, but that may have just been because it was sleeting/snowing and the rails may have been icy. One of my runs through I hooked an edge and got thrown from the box, only stuck with 50-50 variations after that.
