Passing time in the ER waiting room

so my brother Ben was dirt biking at the dunes. Landed on some rocks and broke parts of his knee, ankle, burst fracture on the L1 and L5 vertibrae, colar nine, and lots of fractures in his face. Ns this is weird to ask but hes in bad shape and need your guys prayers. Thanks ns

Yea he's in surgery rn but their main worry now is being able to be sexually active and being able to use his bladder. I saw one of the mri or ct and the one vertibrae was straight mush. A rod will be going in. Things should turn out. Thanks guys

Hope for the best. A lot of people that were told very negative news and made a full recovery.

Hopefully he does alright. I can't run anymore and it sucks. As far as passing the time, see if you can read funny shit online, maybe strike up a convo with a stranger, or text your friends. Unfortunately it's likely your bro will be on your mind until you hear some new back.

Aw fuck dude, sorry to hear that! Sending vibes to you guys and hoping for a speedy recovery!

A couple weeks ago I was in the hospital for a few days. NS helps to get your mind off shit. Reading up on some articles or watching videos helps a lot! Honestly even downloading a new game on your phone and playing that shit for hours works well too haha. Stay positive! You guys will get through this(:

The doctors may say what they say but if someone wants to pursue their passion of whatever it may be they will, my dad about 3 years ago while skiing he decided to send it off this cliff, when he landed he got in the backseat and twisted his knee, he tore his mcl, acl, meniscus, and what ever else was inside his knee, the doctors said he wouldn't be able to ski for another 3 years the next weekend he went up to Whistler, moral of the story is Ben will heal and within a shorter time than you may think he will be back out there ripping it.

Thanks everyone, and the surgery went well I guess, but his throat is so swollen they can't take the breathing tube out Yet. hopefully things keep going well

update. hes been in the icu for 2 days now waiting for the swelling in his airways to go down. they still haven't gone down much but they pulled the breathing tube anyways and supposedly doing fine. kidneys have started working again and urine is back to looking like hes hydrated. were not out of the woods yet, but thanks so much for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers everyone.

He's got Movement in his legs but not any in his feet/ankle area. Hopefully the physical therapy can help bring back those muscles

they had him mostly asleep the past 2 days to try and help the swelling go down. as they pulled the breathing tube hes conscious now and is in a lot of pain from all the broken bones and the long surgery.

update. so it took forever to get him off the breathing tube and out of the icu. he moved to the normal rooms and was put on oral pain meds, he kind of got really depressed for a bit during that stage, but has pulled out of it. hes been sent to the university of utah for 1-2 months of rehab (or more). we have had some problems with him being able to poop (it was causing some serious pain) but was able to poop today.

here is a pic of him on his motorized wheel chair. hopefully he wont need the chair in the future.

(note his left eye looks weird cus thats the side that he had all the fractures. it used to be swollen about 5-6 times that size and the blood is slowly draining)

shin-bangwe have had some problems with him being able to poop (it was causing some serious pain) but was able to poop today.

Glad your brother is doing better. If you haven't already get him some unprocessed bran. It's a real easy way to add good fiber to the diet and it has good vitamins too. It has almost no taste and you can just spoon a little on food. It's cheap too. I just started eating it the other day and I think I'm going to eat some every day from now on.

This early on they really have no fucking clue what the long term damage will be. He picked good vertebrae to break, so I wouldn't be too pessimistic about his prognosis.
