But wasn't the Kartel designed by John kutcher instead of John ware?(along with Karl). I thought I read that somewhere, not trying to pick apart your ad. Killer job dude!

He's got it right. Karl and Ware were the most influential riders in designing the ski. Kutcher was the one who wanted the Prester (hence the name - taken after Prester John).

really temped to get the kartel 106's with the Eh graphic but with the canadian dollar being absolute shit right now it would be 1000+$ even without duties and shipping...

Damn, the Jeffrey 114s are soo good. I had to detune mine hardcore, but after I did, it was smooth sailing. I have owned many skis the past few seasons, and I think these ones take the cake. I have still yet to ski my billy goats, but my 186 jeffs are amazing, Probably the most balanced ski I have had the pleasure to shred on. Great in powder, great in bumps, great in trees, great on groomers, can mess around in the park, can charge crud at high speed. Great all mtn powder jib ski. Very intuitive, jibby, and wants to play. True one ski quiver.

The steeple 112s are also very fun skis. the float is unreal. The way they pivot in untracked trees is absolutely fantastic. Very surprising on groomers, and in bumps/all mtn. Nimble and fun through soft bumps. The 189s are pretty stable, and I never had a problem at 6'3" 200lbs. Pushed them through 2 foot deep chop, very fast, no problems. Light and poppy, with a hint of that On3p backbone. Great ski.


Compared to the jeffrey the steeples are less versatile, but just barely, surprisingly. the steeples are better in the untracked and in trees, while the jeffrey is better when things get skied out and/or firm. Lets see how the 191 Billy Goat stacks up.

Just bought some Kartel 106, any ideas on where to mount them? I'd rather do in front of the recommended because it seems kind of far back for even a little time in the park.

I have mine at -2 and like them there. I wouldn't go any further tho. If you want to move up I'd say go -2 or -2.5

Recommended is -3.75 FYI

Well this is great. Just got my kartel 98s back from the shop and they are mounted wrong . I specified where I wanted them mounted(-2 from center)and that the line was 4cm back from center. They instead mounted them -2 from the recommended line, so they are now at -6 from center. I would understand thinking the line was the center of the ski, but I made it clear that it was -4 from center, and I wanted them mounted up 2cm from that line. I even put a piece of tape where I wanted them mounted. I am very pissed off. I'm going to demand new skis, is that asking too much? Help

I'm going to get my kartels mounted tomorrow and was just thinking about what I would do if this happened. honestly i don't know if they'll give you new skis but have them epoxy them, remount, and try to get something else at the shop for free? I'm going to measure out the distance tonight from recomended so I don't have to deal with their judgement.

Idk if you could get a free set of skis. But maybe a fat discount on your next pair would be more resonable....since they didn't actually ruin the skis.

The problem is that remounting takes away from the structural integrity of the ski. Although the shop didn't ruin the skis, they did fuck them up to an extent in that they shouldn't be re-mounted more than a couple times.

I would be sooooo pissed if someone F'D with my on3pz. I have nightmarez of shops mismounting my billy goats im about to mount.

This happened to me last year, on a pair of K2s tho, and i got free set of brand new Bentchetlers from the shop that messed up. I didnt even complain, they just said "pick a new ski". However they mismounted twice, not just once.

I am dickhead, so if a shop didnt offer up, I would probably demand $100 store credit along with the free mount services. Or else i would never go there again, tell them theyd lose thou$ands in future business, and give them a honest(ly terrible) review on yelp.

On3ps are handmade peices of art, not foamcore shit armadas. Too me, messing up on my On3ps would be like if a teacher hit my child. On my k2s, i dont really care that much, and id just ask the shop to remount for free

I would be so fucking mad if that happened to me. Thats why i just had mine mounted at recommended. I didnt even want risk getting them fucked up, although the shop I went to is very, very freeskier friendly and kind of based around it all.

Damn dog i feel for you, thats a shame.

For anyone with kartels:

Measured my 176s last night and found that true center is exactly 4cm in front of recommended. If you want them 2cm back from true center, ask for 2cm in front if reccomended. If you want them at true center, ask for 4cm in front of recommended.

if done properly, you should have about 3 remounts before this really becomes an issue. I totally get that it is frustrating. I would demand the rework be free and a good shop would through a bit a swag your way, but it is not a mistake that needs the shop to get you a brand new pair.

UPDATE: Went into the shop this morning and told the guy about it. I persuaded him to remount my skis on the spot and I am most likely getting a new pair as well. He would've given me skis they had in store but I didn't want any there for obvious reasons. He's going to talk to his manager about ordering new kartels(most likely a yes though). But by the way, I'm skiing the remounted ones today and they are great! On3p props to you for making an awesome ski! I've had about 10 people ask me today about them! I highly recommend them.

Anyways, the guy was pretty nice about it and admitted his mistake, he remounted them in 15 minutes, and I will most likely be getting new skis as well.

Just ordered a pair of 191 Kartel 106's to keep in Oregon as my every day all-mountain PNW ski (Bachelor and Mt. Hood Meadows mostly), but I ski switch and lot and want to be able to go from a bc booter to trees to park on these. I have very large binding footprint with a size 30 shell boot. I'm thinking -1cm from true center unless you think forward skiing performance would be impacted, can anyone compare mounting these at or near true center vs 2-3cm back?

Recommended mount (the spot where you see the sidewall mark) is at -4.5cm (on a 191cm) from true, dead center on the K106. This spot matches the center of the sidecut, camber profile, binding mat, and where we think the ski should be mounted to best take advantage as an all mountain weapon.

I can personally attest that the swing weight and switch performance don't feel "off" by the recommended point. Will you gain a little bit of switch performance by moving forward? Sure, but then you'll experience more tip dive in soft snow. 99% of the time, I'm skiing forward, and that follows for most people. My standard advice for moving off the recommended mount point is to think honestly about how much you're actually going to ski switch, and if that's greater than 10% of the time, then I'd consider going 1-2cm forward.

I'm 5'11, 145 lbs and am deliberating between the 176 and the 181 kartel 98s. I'm going to be using them out west and on the east coast, gonna definitely ski park with them, but also am gonna be ripping all over the mountain with them (trees, groomers, etc). I also love to ski fast.

Really I am just worried that the 181s might be too long for the trees/park.

Any thoughts?

Go with the 181 for a few reasons.

1. There is a generous rocker in the tip and tails of the Kartels. If you ski a 176 now in, say, a full camber park ski, the 181s in kartel may actually ski shorter
2. You could be considered on the verge for either size (but closer to 181) and if you continue to grow (vertically or weight-wise), the 181's will for sure be the best choice.
3. There is really not a HUGE difference in 5cm of ski. 5cm is almost exactly 2 inches, which is only one inch difference on either side of your binding. Furthermore, it only accounts for 3% of the ski. Not much to worry about.

Definitely go with the 181. I was on the verge between both skis and I went for the 181, so glad I didn't go shorter (I'm 5'10). And you sound like you ski like me so I would for sure go 181

Just fucked up my edge underfoot on my Kartel 98's. It was only a matter of time until I hit a rock. Don't think it is affecting the performance much. Shit happens.

Hello.

I've been skiing on Wrens 102 in 186 last season and a few few days this season (we ain't getting snow at all) and I feel the skis are too demanding for me, I might be biased tho. I enjoy them a lot and I have put them everywhere I could last season. We get lot of crud here and they were amazing. I'm only 5'6 (172cm) and 153 lbs. Could they be too big for me, too stiff perhaps? Or I might just suck big time, lol

Can someone with last years Wrens shed some light in here? Are you using them as a daily ski? Sincerely I can't see myself riding Wrens everyday, specially on hard groomers.

No, we don't get dreamy pow in here haha

Thank you! And sorry if these questions sound kinda stupid, but I would love to figure out why I can't fully adapt to this skis.
