Powder skis in the park

have posted this article before but i still cant wrap my head around it. there is a local skier at my hill that used to ski k2 hellbents in the park. he has since moved on to surface skis and i saw him riding the outsiders. and 1 week ago i saw a video of a guy cork sevening a jump on bentchetlers. now granted this may be weird and the setups may be heavy. but when i last posted this people thought i was crazy and people said it was impossible. but i have seen this style more and more in the midwest. so my question is. have any of you guys done it or ridden bigger skis in the park. yes i know they arent ideal and surface swaps may be significantly harder. how much more of a challenge is it.

The widest I've in park is the 2.0s which are 102. They worked great, don't see why you would go any wider. But I believe if you're a good skier, it wont matter much. Some friends rode 108s when they went by the park, and they did well in the jumps, didn't want to ruin the edges so they would't hit any rails. What the heck, go ahead!

I've done it with some pow skis 118 underfoot. Not a fan of rails on skis that fat but jumps are fun

Yeah i ride my 126 magic j's in the park fairly often. They are really fun on jumps and natural/abnormal jibs beacause they are super playful but i tend to stay away from normal rails and boxes when on them.

it seems weird but take a look at the surface outsiders they are huge but there a park ski. just kind of weird but it looks sick

I used to have surface one lifes, which are the older version of outsiders. It's not that weird if you think about it. The outside is 109 underfoot, it used to be 112 when it was the one life. Anyway if you watch any Forster Meeks edit he kills it on them and looks oh so stylish.

Also, take the kartel 106 for example. Just 3mm skinnier than the outsider, and that's not that much. Yet you see people like Karl, John, Morello, and countless others on the team taking some laps on this ski.

In the end it's all personal preference but possible for sure

yeah im sure thats what it comes down to. was looking at buying the one lifes cause there real cheap right now but i hear durability is so so. probs gonna wait a while till that gets better. i also hear that they are really playful with that 3 stage rocker despite them being super stiff

They're super playful for sure. And yeah durability is getting better every season.
