Sup so I had konflicts for the last four years and the bottom buckle broke and the tongue broke off this spring. I'm in the market for new boots and obviously loved FT but open to other brands. Has anyone swapped from FT to another brand and what did you think? Did you find your new brand was more durable? How was comfort/performance? I'm not going to cheap out on this next purchase so open to any brands. Stick with FT or nah?

Go to a good boot fitter and let him/her analyse your feet and then try on what is given to you. Don't go to a boot fitter with ideas of what boots you want in mind, this will only make it more difficult to work out what fits and what doesn't.

You may find that Full Tilts are the best fitting boot for your feet or you may find that another brand works even better. The only way to find out is to go and get fitted.

Also 4 years is a pretty decent lifespan for a pair of boots IMO. Especially if you're skiing park or big mtn.

Finally make sure you get some custom footbeds/insoles when you buy new boots. Boots will never properly fit you without a good footbed. Ideally what you want to do is get a footbed made and then try boots on with the footbed in the boot because footbeds can quite significantly alter the fit and feel of a boot.

All fitting issues aside... Check roxa. Better buckles, same cable system, same 3 piece design. I switched from the FT TW ( a decently narrow fit) to the roxa free bird which the boot fitter put me in. It's basically a full tilt with better buckles and wider last

Full Tilts are comfy, but can't even compare to the performance of other boots. Get yourself some real boots.

There's benefits and restrictions to pretty much every boot. Full Tilts are the best boot I've ever ridden, I ride with an eight flex and custom footbeds and I'd never go to another brand. But that's not to say that Full Tilt is better than other boots, because every boot is different. What works amazing for me, may be shit for you. And visa versa

Used my full tilts for 3 seasons now, love em but theyre breaking piece by piece. Lokal shop got the same year model, for 100$. Def gonna buy em.

I'd say dalbellos, a little more pricy but they fit way more snug on your heel, and they just feel like their built a bit better IMO.

never had someone regret getting different boots. They didn't mind not breaking every part on the boot just by looking at em either.

traditional overlap boots are better than 3 piece designs too. Something about actually being able to drive a ski.

Full tilt and dalbello use the same liner. I doubt that would be the case.

went from full tilts to salomon ghost 80's best decision ever. needed new boots cause the weird ratchet buckle system was stripped and wouldnt stay tight. went to go buy new ones in my local ski shop. too the new ones out of the box and tightened up on my feet and they wouldnt stay tight, it was like they came pre stripped. bought ghost 80's and love em. plus havent had any shinbang on the ghosts so i see no reason to switch back

They feel so mushy too. Not enough control.

Full tilts just fuckin work for me mainly because they dont give me shin bang. unfortunately they are made from pretty cheap material, they are so simple and the return on them must be insane because they seem so easy to make.

Skied my TWalls for 3 seasons, skied most of this season in Overload 120s and picked up some Scott G2 110's late season which is the best impulse buy I ever made. So much power to the ski. You don't know control until you get out of a FT. My FT's were mush as others have said.

I left my Full Tilts...and came back. I've owned many many boots over the years (I've probably had at least one boot from almost all the big manufacturers) and interestingly enough, full well knowing that Full tilts generally ski like shit (and aren't super durable) compared to many boots i've owned, yet I still prefer them. Other boots even when fitted perfectly, are just never going to be as comfortable as FT's [for me.] My feet stay warm and comfortable which keeps me on the mountain all day. Not having to deal with pressure points or the constant nagging/irregular pain I get from other boots (like I said, even when fitted perfectly) is the trade off that makes FT's appealing to me. Any boot that makes me consider taking less runs in a day is a boot I don't want. So I guess my [persona] bottom line is that I choose all day comfort/warmth and general forgiveness over performance. Not that FT's perform awful or anything, but If I want performance I have another pair of stiffer boots for powder days etc, but the tilts are definitely the daily drivers and get the job done.

Yep, I said that for a reason. Its all in the trade off/compromise. I've yet to find a boot that does it all for me.

OP if your looking for a recommendation outside the world of full tilts, but like the 3 piece concept, I'd steer you towards the Dalbello Kryptons. It's the only other boot that I've owned thats right there with FT's for me. Not quite as comfortable or warm, and are heavy as shit but they're much more rigid and ski better than the Full tilts for sure (but in a similar way if that makes sense). Love the Krypton's. Not suprising the new FT Descendent looks pretty similar to them.

In my opinion the 3 piece boots are the best you can get for park. Te flex and comfort is unmatched in overlap. However out of the park I would go overlap. 3 piece can't ski as hard mainly just because tey are all a bit soft, having a tounge which can flex but still be surportive is hard.

So consider both. If your just in the park 3 piece is probably your best bet. If your in and out depending how hard you ski they may work. If you spend most your time out of the park go overlap.

In terms of durability full tilt are getting there. They have the awsome new evolution shell so hopefully the narrow boots get upgraded next season too.

Scooped a pair of Dalbello Krypton, but got shin bang within a couple days. Took the original liner out and use Intuition liners from my FT TW's. Got a lil sloppy with forward pressure so added booster straps. They now fit and preform to my liking.
