Ski big air not in the next winter olympics?

Just found out that ski big air wont be in the winter olympics however snowboarding big air is. what are your thoughts? Im pretty damm shocked why.... ------> http://freeskier.com/the-wire/ski-big-air-not-approved-for-inclusion-in-2018-winter-olympic-games

I don't think big air should be in the olympics in general. Especially after the shit show huck-fest of the last x-games. Vinni was the only competitor doing tricks that were actually controlled.

Jossi Wells was the most controlled, however the judging didnt cover controlled skiing so Jossi didnt qualify for finals

Not to sound harsh but women have never ever competed big air in any remotely large event. Wtf how is skiing not in the Olympics and women's big air is?. They should take out something nobody watches like the biathlon to replace it with ski big air. Also it makes sense that they took out snowboard slalom since it is an outdated sport. But so it fucking curling, I hope they change and they still have time, but if they announced that snowboard big air will be included I highly doubt it will work out for us :( #thanksvail #shaunwhitedidthistous

Biathlon and curling are huge in some places, would bet that especially biathlon gets much better ratings than freestyle ski and snowboard.

ok but still x games big air is much more interesting and exciting to watch than biathlon or curling. Lets say a group of people have never seen or heard of either sport. They would be much more impressed with skiing. But this is an extremely bias opinion. but I still think people will enjoy skiing more than sliding rocks on ice

hahaa yeah im curious about that too. that said, i really wouldn't mind the girls having big air. for better or for worse it's a great way to encourage people pushing the envelope (for lack of a less 90s phrase)

i like crotchkiller's posts, he may seem negative but he has a certain perspective on skiing that is educated by being a legit skier with his finger on the pulse of the skiing world, and we need differing opinions on stuff, as long as it's not just mindless hate

that said, i agree with vinnieF-- i thought olympic slope was fucking sick despite so many dreading it. the course was big and mean, the judging was dece and super strict as i believe it should have been, and the runs were awesome and i think the whole thing did a great job of showcasing what park skiing is like nowadays to the world

i consider myself way on the side of "style" and filming as opposed to comps and blah blah blah. but i liked O slope, and to be honest i would have liked for it to be around when i was in high school so id have gotten fewer "but you seem like you should be a snowboarder, skiing is gay" comments.

plus, dude, thousands of people got to see henrik send a nose butter trip 16 off the middle jump and land in the parking lot-- that alone made it all worth it in my book!

I kinda feel like Big Air will take freeskiing and fill the gap that the decline of aerials has left. It basically will allow the IOC to reach out to younger viewers the way that aerials "ooo'd" and "aww'd" people in the 70's and 80's. This is just that progression, and unfortunately, I think it might push freeskiing faster towards that place where limitation has to be enforced on the tricks allowed.

That being said, I'm still going to watch.

If someone wants to throw a quad...they will. Not adding the event isn't going to stop someone. Billy Morgan wasn't competing in anything when he did his so why would we expect that to happen here? Yeah an Olympic medal would be at stake but that doesn't really mean a ton... if someone is capable of doing it they are going to do it eventually. Maybe the Olympics are a motivator but I don't think it is as motivating as we think. Also the Olympics are in 4 years...you really think no one will land a quad within that time?
