las.Both, but probably primarily the latter (currently). It would vary from country to country, though. Where I live media influence it seems has far less of a presence than it does in the US

The media outlets are only as successful as we make them. With out an audience of viewers who continue to watch it would die, in both an economical and psychological sense.
But what if the media influences us to continue to watch the media? And we really aren't in control
