Hey everyone,

Ross here at Hemlock Creative, just wanted to drop some mid-summer hype for you on a new film we shot this season titled, 'Tamashii'. This isn't your typical ski film, as its a social documentary that aims to question our dependence on technology these days, and its affects on future outdoor and social engagement. Here's the teaser for it, I hope you all enjoy!

I mean, I see where you guys are coming from with the irony thing but honestly, I don't see any other way to make this statement, sometimes change has to come from the inside. Regardless, I'm stoked and hoping for a sick flick!

So we're pretty much funding twenty thousand dollars worth of color correction and scoring? Was the plan the entire time to film the footage, and then ask people to donate to finish the film? Somewhat confused by the ideas behind that.

but actually its a really awesome idea that i agree with, but unfortunately the world is already fucked and its too late to get people off their phones/social media. the ski industry, as well as other things, is all starting to be about how many followers you have.

And BOONCH is on point, it's not "anti social media" it's just exploring something I think a lot of people can relate to. Gonna be a great flick, so much good skiing.

Yep, the irony here is palpable, for sure. If anyone here is willing to give us $ 10k straight up, we'd be happy to do all the promo via print ads, fliers, posters and whatnot! Unfortunately making movies is extremely difficult and expensive, especially with no sponsors or funding, so the free internet will have to do.

Besides, if our target audience is those plugged in and constantly connected online...is there really a better way to reach them?

You guys are missing the point. 10 years ago you didn't know what tricks went down that season until the next fall, this is a movie reflecting on how things are now in the era of social media and a couple skiers taking a step back from that, they're not condemning the internet, chill.

We just reached the 1 week mark on our Kickstarter, and I just wanted to send out a massive THANKS to everyone who has helped support the project thus far! Making ski movies is extremely expensive and exhausting, and doing this whole thing without any sponsors has made it even more of a challenge. Support from core skiers like you guys who can see through the irony of promoting the film online really means a ton. You guys are legends, and without ya this thing wouldn't be possible! Thanks,

Worth noting: within the Kickstarter are options for both a digital download and DVD.

So you could think of this as a preorder to pick up what will turn out to be one of the better films next year.

This could've been really interesting if it would've focused more on what Karl was talking about. Like how you as a pro skier need to supply your followers with content year round or they'll forget about you. Now it just has the vibe of some sort of unoriginal put your phone away and enjoy the world youtube video which people that think they're smarter then their friends link on facebook and seriously believe that anyone is gonna learn anything from it

haha not that much obviously the movie could be about serial killers for all I know. But the trailer was about that and that's why I questioned the theme of it. Of course there's more to it then that. I hope it's freaking amazing and I'll love it to death obviously(cause I do love skiing and ski movies)

Bump, and here's why:

Hemlock stuck themselves out there a bit by sending the trip, shooting this, and going for the project before they had backing. Plus, Kickstarter was a bold choice: it's all or nothing.

Whatever you think about the social media concept or reflection on it, you have to respect that they're taking a newer approach to funding ski filmmaking--instead of egregious product shots and covering the trailer in logos, you can buy gear you already were planning to spend money on and it goes to making the film. I'm a fan.
