VinnieFyou live in Canada. what rights are the LGBT community lacking?
The only group in Canada that have a different set of rights than anyone else are the Natives, who have extra hunting/trapping and land and tax rights etc etc. (maybe some of them aren't considered rights)
Everyone else has the EXACT same rights. There is zero discrimination in the eyes of the law here (except in the social republic of Quebec which likes to stomp on peoples' language and religious rights and freedoms)
Well marriage equality for one, many states in the US don't have marriage equality as well as Australia. Which leads to a bunch of rights that married couples have, like family leave, the next of kin, they can't get family health cover, inheritance, insurance, etc, etc.
And as for trans, just using the bathroom they desire without being looked at weirdly or ticketed. In Dallas a woman was ticketed for using a female restroom at hospital. As well as 20% of trans woman are still in male prisons and there is still debate on what prison a trans person should go to.
As well as rights, it's about how society views the LGBTQ community, look at Caitlyn Jenner. I have seen countless posts about how "he's just confused" or "he needs gods help" or the most common one "He's just doing this for attention". It's like how people use to view the black community as less and sometimes still do, the exact same thing is happening with the LGBTQ community. In the eye of the law, it's incredibly hard to find certain rights that they don't have, but if you look at the wider picture of things you'll see the injustices against them.
