As I plan to move to British Colombia in the upcoming summer of 2016 from Ottawa, I was wondering what I should expect while attending UBC. I had a few questions like: What is the cheapest way to live; what skiing opportunities are available; how much I will be skiing whilst a full-time university student; and/or when would be the best time of year for me to go skiing at Whis (in relation to cost and # of days spent at the volcano). I am fully committed to this plan and lets hear some stories about the brothers of the West. Mahalo!
be careful on the Whistler Volcano, located deep inside the jungles of British Colombia. There are many hidden dangers including the dreaded Marijuana Cartels, expensive gasoline, and drunken Australian expats. I wish you luck on your airplane commandeering mission. godspeed
transit everywhere, make friends with people who have cars, avoid eating out, dont go downtown to drink/party, besides house parties and drinking on the beach is better anyways (in the summer) downtown genuinely blows, hard. get a student pass, ride the local mountains (assuming theyll be open this year) seymour>grouse>cypress, although grouse will be by far the easiest to get to of the three if you are transiting
