Oh man I just nostalgia'd.
-The DVX will give you more control over the image, XLR inputs, and a sharper image. You can actually up-res to HD and still retain relatively good quality. You also get to have fun wrapping your head around 2:3:3:2 pulldown...
-The GL2 is an awesome run and gun camera. You get 20x optical zoom, and it's simple enough, but still gives you good control.
-The VX1000 is legendary. Nuff said.
You'll have fun with any of them. Thanks, now I kind of want to pick one up to screw around with.

just found a lightly used dvx100 on craigslist, picked it up for 250 plus a storm case and i gotta say i couldn't be more stoked on it. Pretty solid camera, and super fun to film with

The DVX is legendary. Of what you posted, it's the hands down winner. If you're set on miniDV, buy it.

if you're filming more than just skiing/skating, then dvx. if you're only filming skiing/skating then go for a vx. either way you'll probably regret buying it after a few months
