FIFA Corruption

Sounds like kind of a gong show. Does it matter? Doe anyone care? I don't follow soccer/football much, but I'm about as surprised as I would be if a bunch of boxing organizers were arrested for fixing fights. Not even a little bit.

This is pretty huge for soccer. Fifas corruption has been known for a while now but this is the first time anything has been done about it. Hopefully the whole organization gets revamped or a new International Footballing Association is made.

If Blatter gets elected, wich will happen, UEFA said they might get out. Thats just a threat but they really should do it. After that all European countries and their national federations will get out and dont enter FIFA tournaments. Create a new international federation and carry on, the rest of the world will follow European football.. If not..well than they are just bigger idiots than they are now..
When FIFA and Blatter are done all his alies wil testify against him, he loses all his money and power, everybody happy..
To bad UEFA probably doesnt have the balls to get out.. Pun intended..

blatter is fucked, i can't see the usa arresting anyone without sufficient evidence to charge them, someone will end up grassing blatter out

Not the first time, the article said that FIFA has "weathered" plenty of corruption investigations. This is the first time that the US Federal Gov't has gotten involved though.

I think it's great, and more can be done. Toss those fuckers in jail and put the stolen money back into the world's sport. It's bullshit that Blatter is walking and talking like all this is well and good for FIFA, when really there's no way that any of this went on without him knowing about it. Hopefully he's not reelected, but apparently he only has one challenger and is expected to win a fifth term.

I know there have been reports and investigations but I meant on more of a grand scale, this is really the first time that someone has followed through on the accusations.

Honestly fifa is one of the most corrupt organizations. It's also difficult to expose/do something about it because they are more or less the biggest.

He is not. People that are so f*cked up think they are above the law, untouchable, especially after so many years of being in control and getting away with everything, they will do everything to get what they want, its all or nothing. Blatter could have walked away with his pockets filled but thats not what someone like that craves, they are power hungry, addicts, and they want more and more. If things go wrong or the heat is up and they get away with it, they love that feeling even more. Its like adrenaline junkies, they want more and more. Blatter will never walk away, he is not scared, he is an addict with some serious personality disorders.

You're probably right. Regardless of his character though, his cronies are being swooped up, and the list of federations and nations calling for his head is growing rapidly - the walls are closing in

The US department of justice, FBI and the IRS are all going after FIFA now. 7 FIFA officials were arrested in a Zurich hotel and are all facing charges on money laundering, wire fraud and international racketeering. As well as accept millions of dollar in bribes. Seriously hope FIFA gets brought down.

It's just kinda weird that he's resigning so soon after being 'elected' president again.

Can only be good though. I'm interested in seeing who the replacement candidates are.

I think some more information was found out and hes trying to get out while he still can. Either that or the cops are on to him and hes trying to dip out. Hes not in a good position either way
