Interesting Documentaries/ films/ Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck

Watched one about Jean-Michael Basquiat which was pretty good but the one about kurt cobain was really good IMO. The animations and the home videos hit me pretty hard because it was super personal.

Anyone know some good documentaries especially films focusing on artists and musicians?

all suggestions welcome. You can find both films online for free.

If you're into skating or action sports in general then you should check out 'All This Mayhem'. It shines a very revealing light on the 90's skate scene and two brothers from Australia who turned the comp scene upside down.

I also recommend 'How to Die in Oregon'. Super sad, but very necessary to help ignite the 'Death With Dignity' movement surrounding the morals behind nurse assisted suicide.

Check out 'The Imposter'. Don't read about it before you watch it (honestly that's the best way to watch a lot of documentaries).

It's a few years old but it's getting a lot of attention right now, and it's absolutely amazing.

If you're into hip-hop go watch "Biggie & Tupac". It's basically one guy trying to get to the bottom of the whole feud that ended with them getting killed. His style is pretty basic, ie he has the sound equipment and there's one cameraman, and its an investigative journalism style, so nothings sugarcoated or embellished and he manages to get pretty far into the whole thing rather than just retelling what everyone already knows

I think Kurt's death is pretty messed up. He told everyone that he was depressed and was literally going to kill himself and no one really did anything, then acted surprised when it happened

There's a documentary called "Kurt and Courtney" from the same guy who made "Biggie and Tupac", made in the same basic style as CliffyByro describes. You should check that out too

If you haven't watched then I don't know. It's about Banksy.

Also the other day I watched one about the underground Punk scene of New York that was very good. also the straight edge people are pretty interesting.
And if you are into it, in Vice there is an Interview of Dr Shulgin, who is the inventor of the mdma and many other drugs (probably most of the ones you can think of).

There's a home video scene in montage of heck where his daughter is opening presents on her birthday and Kurt gets up and walks off camera, and Courtney is like hey Kurt come back you're missing her birthday or something like that. It was very symbolic poignant, sad etc.

watch soaked in bleach too if your interested about how kurt died, its not necessarily saying it was a murder but it brings up a lot of questionable shit about the investigation/the days leading up to when they found him dead.
