Major Permaban bug

Hey everyone -

We just had a major bug pop up with the permaban system. Some of you who have received permabans in the past but had them lifted, just got that ban re-instated.

I tried to log on today and I was banned, pretty much some major fixes to these major bugs and the ns alien appeared. As doug would say "get your sporks people".

Would someone please tell the different types of bans and why a certain person would get them? I've learned my lesson after a couple day Suspension but now its kind of sparked my interest the whole banning someones ip adress or whatever

Several years ago there was a phase where people would embed youtube videos and set the player to 0px wide and turn the auto play on.

Eventually, every thread you opened played this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zAO3f0c1XY



It got so bad that if you posted an auto playing song you got IP banned.

Dang. But what exactly are the other bans? Like a suspension for a couple days, then what? And then if someone gets ip banned and perma are they ever allowed to come back?

Wait what? I don't remember that happening or maybe I was browsing with sound off or maybe you guys did a good job of cleaning?

Band are basically up to the mod/admins discretion. It could be a day, a few days, a week, a month or permanent...it depends on how bad the mod feels you are (and what your banning history is). IP ban is a permanent ban that also bans your IP address, making it much harder to just create a new account. IP bans and regular permanent bans can be turned off if the mod team feels it's ok to let that person back.

I was locked out for 2 weeks because somebody banned me as a joke on april fools day a few years ago. Thanks NS

Just because you're banned from ns as a gltich doesn't mean you cant email, or message us or even create a new username to let us know you were banned...

It's all good I'm not complaining. I talked with Jamie who unbanned me once but I got banned again, and then I sent NS an email and got unbanned a couple days later
