DingoSeanI don't think you understand that there's a difference between random females in a studio with "applause" signs above their heads, and actual everyday life. If that were a legitimate forum, filled with actual intelligent people (note: not random people off the street who got random free tickets to see Sharon Osbourne). The wage gap statistics, definitely being one of them - as admittedly, there are idiots out there who throw around false wage statistics all day as a way to claim they deserve more for less work - which isn't at all the point of the whole thing by any measure and deteriorates the work that has been done by those who are actually doing good. Many of the statistics we have don't tell the whole story anyway, and are based on entirely non-transparent data in many industries.

Those who seek to eliminate the wage gap (which, by any statistic admittedly exists, depending on the industry) aren't just simply asking "give women more money" straight up, but rather, a change in the culture, ambition, and general acceptance of women in different workforces within society so as to allow women to work the same jobs as men in an equal setting (think of it from the idea of "well, women don't work in high paying jobs like mining or oil extraction, so that's why" and then ask "well why don't they? It's not because they're unable to.. why wouldn't women want a job that pays that well?" and go from there) It's a bottom-up affair, rather than a top down, but there does need to be some form of legislation on-top of it all to protect from any pitfalls that may exist in the future that could potentially endanger enforcement of the quite vague equal pay act (which has not been entirely successful as we know). Whether this is something like the Paycheck Fairness Act or some other sort of anti-discriminatory protective pay legislation remains to be seen.

and there is no statistic for a wage gap you can sue if you're not getting paid equally for equal work. The last time we had this discussion you deleted the thread. you posted up the bullshit statistic of women doctors and lawyers and then when I told you the real reason because most men that are doctors are surgeons so they get paid more money and more women who are Doctor are physicians so they make less money. if over 90% of Surgeons were women the "pay gap" would be reversed but that's on women they choose to be physicians and no one makes them do it. same thing with lawyers more men or corporate based lawyers thats where the monsy is. if a woman is a surgeon or corporate lawyer and not making the same amount as her male counterpart and they have the same continuous experience and education she can sue and win the money.

When she told people she wanted to go to school for biomedical science people told her she was crazy and that she would be better off becoming a science teacher because more women are good at that even though she graduated top 10 in our class and was completely able to do awesome shit.
