One Ski Quiver

So I'm pretty interested as to why all the pros/team riders seem to love all the company's wider skis. I know the width of about 100 is ideal for riding all around, but is there any other advantages than versatility, and stability on big jumps/cliffs? I have never riden a ski over 90 underfoot, and I'm not sure if I want to buy a bigger ski.

A wider ski has more stability on landings and they're more playful. So for someone like Adam Delorme who isn't doing triple corks but rather smooth buttery orgasmic shit, a wider ski suits him more. It's all personal preference

I used to be scared of skiing on skis over 110 cause I thought they would suck unless it was deep deep pow. Turns out, fat skis are the funnest things ever. I'll probably never get another ski that's under 100mm again unless I get a pure park ski, but I don't ski park, and if I got a park ski it would be something with a little width to it like the kartel 98, fatypus l toro, Icelantic danollie, or something like that. Demo a pair of fatter skis and you'll understand my friend.

Also if you are interested in a one ski quiver check out the Kartel 106s, I have a pair and they do everything with ease

I live in MN. We don't have any need for over 100 :( plus no one ever demoes here.

True, but I know you'd love a wider ski, most people do. Ask ON3P if they'll do a demo. I come from a little mountain out west with not a lot of snowfall. Me and some buddies emailed them and showed interest and they came by. Just show that your mountain has interest and they'll see what they can do

ive got some icelantic gypsy skny's and with the flat camber rocker they hold an awesome edge all over the mountain being 100cm underfoot. they are almost symmetrical so i mounted at -1 for riding all over the place. took them off 30ft cliffs, pow, groomers, slush, park, etc they ride everywhere. best choice i think out of all the ones ive ridden around 100 underfoot like the blends.. these are softer tips and stiff underfoot the only thing you sacrifice is the pop that camber offers you, get used to it though.

As was mentioned earlier, style of skier can determine whether you're rather have a wider park ski.

I've used everything from sub 80s to 106 as a park ski. Mostly, I'm interested in slower spins, buttering around, and pressing on jibs, so I don't need something really whippy. To be fair, I'm also a bigger dude, so it's easier for me to throw a ski around.

I do not know how much sander was involved in getting ON3P out there but I do know we showed lots of interest. The guys even said it was one of their best demo days ever. Skis were out all day.

Unfortunately Butternut turned us down for a demo last year, as we are not sold in their on-hill retail location (a frequent occurrence unfortunately for small brands like ours). We understand why some mountains take that stance too, so just something to work around. We will try again next year for sure, as it is a location we would really like to demo at.

Hey iggy, I am now curious as to how much influence sander did have on you guys coming to pebble creek? Also congrats on having our local shop retail you guys. Hopefully you can come out next year

Well, we love Sander, so we really wanted to hit his home mountain, but it was about getting Barrie's attention as much as anything else. We've been wanting to work with Barrie's for 3+ years now, but it is tough as a smaller brand. There are so many options these days. So, it was important to show them that we take the area seriously and are going to be doing what we need to support our brand and their shop there. I expect us to try to do, at minimum, 1 demo per season there going forward (snowpack dependent, I could see doing 2 or more going forward). Killer area, one of the best shops around, so we are very excited to be working together.

Our demo tours (and you see this nationally) are as much about getting in front of the local dealers we want to work with as it is about hitting specific ski areas. When we did our big east coast demo tour, people were offended we didn't hit certain resorts. Well, 1, getting a tour planned that quick is hard and a lot of resorts said no. And 2, we went after resorts where we could get shop owners/employees on our skis as much as the general public.

Most dealers still have no idea who we are, and cold calling only gets you so far. We think demo tours are an huge part of growing our brand, so you will see the focus on expanding them significantly over the next 2-3 seasons.

Dang. Totally sounds like something they would do even tho the litterally only have line and some rossi lol. Maybe they should look into carrying your line hopefully next year! But by then i hope to have my own pair haha.

No worries. Honestly, we can't even demo at 1/2 of our local Oregon mountains for the same reason (which is a huge bummer obviously).

I don't know how, but if there is a channel to do so, let em know they should let us stop by. We might not sell in their retail store (now) but we bring a lot of hype and people come from other mountains to try our skis, so we still consider it a win win for both us and the mountains, even if they don't carry our brand.

I totally get that. And I actually do know the marketing director (matt) who is in charge of such events and I know that after tell a friend tour came last year he really saw how many kids do come to the mountain for freeskiing and how much traction the movement really has. I talked to him the next weekend and made sure I told him how great it is for us and the mountain and he totally agreed as im one of maybe 50 kids who has a season pass that skis park their and I could definately try to get a good word in for you guys recently they started carrying much more freeski orientd brands like saga and orage so honestly i dont think it would take much convincing to get you in their shop as you fit the vision.

If you are free skiing in the Midwest all the time I wouldn't worry about the concept of a quiver, and thus a 'one ski quiver.'

The whole concept of having a quiver of skis is to be able to cover a variety of snow conditions or styles of skiing. In MN, you really are not going to see the wide range of snow conditions, so there is really no reason to look for a swiss army knife ski when you can get something that is more tailored to your local conditions.

For you a one ski quiver would be looking to combine a piste ski with a more freestyle ski. Ie: one that carves on firm snow well, and still has good balance in the park.
If you don't care to much about carving, just get a park ski. Get a waist width that suits your style. Wider park skis seem to be pretty vogue right now, but that doesn't mean they are a good idea. Nothing wrong with a 80-90mm symetrical park ski.

If you want more of the 'one ski quiver' aspect, nothing wrong with a 80-90mm directional twin, with a mount point that is 2-5cm back from center.

If you want a ski that you can occasionally take out west and ski deeper snow but still works in MN, I'd get something that is mid 90s under foot, and fits your skiing style.
