Trampoline vs summer set up

I'm am forced to decide whether I want to build a summer set up at my house or buy a trampoline (no I'm not spoiled, I've been saving for a while). I will only have room for the one. i have some friends with trampolines but none with a summer set up but I know if I build the set Up there's a chance of putting a lot of money into it and it not working out. But then again I could build a sick set up with a lot of sick rails.

Which do you want to progress on more rails, or jumps?

I am lucky enough to have both(I paid for both), but if I was forced with this decision, I would chose summer setup, because I am perfectly content with my jump game, but I am not very fond of my rail skills. If you do make a summer setup, make it the best possible setup.

That's what I was leaning towards too, last season I was more of a jumps guy but I progressed a ton in rails this season

Why Not Both... my setup costed about 80$ and works great. wood/screws/a drill/Lattice /turf and a good plan and your set. Get a cheap tramp on craigslist or something.

What's fun about a summer setup is that you're actually skiing, and it'll help your rail game so much. I've had it for 5 years now and that's where I've learned everything and got way more consistent. Plus if you have the space you can build a couple of rails and get creative.

Summer setups can be quite frustrating , but help your railgame alot , i personally wouldnt like to miss neither , just can be nice to have a lil warm up sesh on your tramp and then hit the summer setup the rest of the say . I payed about 80€ for my summersetup , so if you can find some space , get both , if you cant get a summer setup and hit your friends tramps. Also be sure to build your summer setup 2,5m+ if you have enough space and plan to use construction fence! Good luck

Dig a giant hole and put the trampoline in it. then cover it with plywood and fake grass or something similar. Then build a setup.

My summer setup cost me less than $50. That being said personally I'd rather a tramp because my jump game is complete garbage hahaha:) summer setups are super fun to chill with the homies on though! You'll have fun with either

Can you build a summer setup and then have a trampoline on it's side next to it that you can flip down over your setup to get down on (not on the tower but over the inrun ramp rail area.

Might want to tape the legs on so they don't fall off if you do that.

Idk. a good tramp is always nice to just run outside quick and throw a few tricks or have a proper sesh but a summer setup youll progress a lot.

Getting on the tramp requires less effort, don't need boots, just jump, but summer set up is skiing and grindbarz.


I'd try and find a way for both because yolo and stuff.

if your friends have trampolines build a summer setup because you could always just use theirs. Like im building a summer setup and a few of my friends have trampolines and luckily there is a trampoline park about 2 hours away and one of my friends always wants to drive up there with me and a few friends. So point is you could find someone elses trampoline to use but its tough to find someone with a summer setup you can use.

I have both now, but I would choose my setup over the tramp. I guess cause rail progression is more important to me

i used these plans i found a few years ago and it worked really well the only thing i changed was the width to 4 ft instead of 3.6

i dont remember the exact cost but a bit over $100 but definitely under$200

you could do both just get the wood at the local dump, if its like mine there will be plenty of wood in good condition, no sure about the turf cause I got mine when they redid the turf field but it cant be that expensive and then just buy the tramp. or just mow a couple people's lawns a week and you'll have plenty of money. just dont be a pussy and charge like 20 bucks or more.

My summer setup is ok I find it really frustrating sometimes but come winter you will realize how much it helped you. My rail game is far ahead of my friends I'm pulling new tricks when there still nocking off the rust when first snow hits.

I'd get a tramp. Summer setup will get boring and tiring and trampolines are more fun in my opinion. There is also way more tricks to do on tramp then on a little flat rail.

You can build a very nice summer setup for extremely cheap. I probably spent less than $50 on mine. You can find everything in dumpsters. Just drive around to some construction sites.

falling hard, rails breaking, equipement breaking, not enough speed, too much speed, all stuff that have been pretty frustrating in the last two years.

mine helps alot, i could barely two out of rails two seasons ago, this/last season i can do every dub swap except back to back, and i can do all 8 now. i was equal with my friends before, and they were learning kfeds this season when i was working on learning unnatural swaps and 2 out variations, and double swaps.

I'm gonna argue for the trampoline if it's one or the other. When I had both, the trampoline always got way more use since all you gotta do before you tramp is take off your shoes (or even skip that if you're a barbarian).

In contrast, putting on ski boots always seems like a pain, and that coupled with hosing off the inrun/outrun, soaping down astroturf, dragging out and putting away all your ski equipment, and climbing a tower in ski boots every 30 seconds made me pick the trampoline instead 9 times out of 10.

Well if your friends have trampolines, summer set up I guess. I only say that because you don't mention inline. Get some blades, branch out. Landing with long ass skis is a lot easier than rollerblades, there is a lot more room for slop on skis than rollerblades that are only a foot long.

I wish I would have grown up with a trampoline though. I'm a jump guy though, but having body awareness in air would be so key
