Granite_StateTheres a difference between keeping money out of politics (aka not taking corporate donations) and taxing to create government programs that help improve the quality of life for even the poorest of U.S. citizens. onenerdykidNo one has a problem with truthful statements, but I wouldn't call the majority of Trump's statements as truthful and praiseworthy. He's truthful about being a racist and anti-gay. Being honest about these points is not exactly exemplary or praiseworthy. Moreover, there is a big difference between not being PC and being a bigot. There are plenty of honest options in between those.

I would imagine a spectrum of honest statements to be like:
Overly PC - PC - Polite - Directly Honest - Overly Honest.

If someone is politely honest, then it is a middle ground few people could ever take issue with.

Just as some leftists take being PC beyond the point of honesty (quite often being dishonest about things), Trump takes it beyond the "Overly Honest" category into "honest about being a racist & a a bigot". Someone can definitely be politely honest or directly honest without having to resort to being a racist or a bigot. I would put Bernie into that latter category.

I find it fairly convincing, but again I am always down to re-examine it and check out data from a different/competing think tank.



Their motto is "Prosperity through revitalizing capitalism & democracy". It could for sure be a front, but I'm not one to typically go down the conspiracy path. For sure running a think tank will take millions of dollars in capital and require the backing of some pretty heavy hitters.

onenerdykidBeing a socialist or a democratic socialist has really no ideological ties to supporting illegal immigration. The conservative parties in Euroland have just as much interest in supporting free universities & universal healthcare as they do in kicking out the refugees. The two positions are not mutually inclusive and they are in no way ideologically part of the same issue or solution.

The problem is that our 2 party system likes to lump everything onto one side or the other and claim that liberal ideas support illegal immigration and only conservative ideas are against it. It's completely absurd.

Just because I find myself voting on the left side of the spectrum, it does not mean that I support every single idea/platform that the candidate runs on. It just means that I find that side more palpable than the other.

Just to put it into perspective, the yearly budget of NASA is roughly $10 billion per year which equates to half of one penny per tax dollar ($0.005 / $1). If Bernie's free university program goes forward at $70 billion per year, that would be $0.035 per tax dollar.

If you really are concerned about where your tax dollars go, Bernie's (and NASA's for that matter) costs shouldn't really be at the top of your list.

I have yet to hear one good argument against building a wall (or secure fence of sorts) at the border. Besides of course, "it would cost too much!", which is funny given that it's the first time I've seen leftists concerned with government spending (that wasn't for the hated military of course).
