CampeadorCalifornia is also a basket-case, if not for those tech geeks in Silicon Valley the state would have gone belly up a while ago. Business owners are leaving the state left and right, leaving only the welfare collectors and illegal immigrants behind.
"According to the Tax Foundation, California has the 48th-worst business tax climate."
If you were going to pick an example of the "successes" of socialism, you may want to pick a better example. California a is a perfect example of how socialism only serves the very rich, the very poor (until the money runs out), and government employees.
"Democratic" Socialism (quite the oxymoron) is tantamount to killing the middle class. If you believe that is the best system, then that is what you suport.
I didnt give an example of socialism....???
Even though you completely misread why I mentioned California How is it an example of socialism????? WTF??
The middle class is already dead....????
Democratic Socialism is not an oxymoron, yur a goomba dude.
CampeadorNo, simply to illustrate a point, and I'm glad you took my advice. Persuasive writing, regardless of opinion, is important to know how to do properly.
RHETORIC:the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques.
Developing proper Rhetoric is paramount in order to excel at persuasive writing.
CampeadorThere are plenty of socialist cesspools to choose from, Venezuela just provides one of the best examples. Also, Venezuela is far from a tiny country.

There is also alot of great socalists countries you can choose from. Which combine a CAPITLIST ECONOMY with an approach towards helping everyone, not just those who can afford it. And you say socalism is killing the middle class? Please tell me more about how trickle down economics has proved so beneficial for the middle class...
S.J.WThere is also alot of great socalists countries you can choose from. Which combine a CAPITLIST ECONOMY
Let's see, name one that doesn't have severe problems caused by its misguided socialistic policies. Remember that your Scandinavian "paradises" are now being overrun by migrant colonists that the socialists invited in, all in the name of "equality" of course.
Also, you fundamentally do not understand how a capitalist economy works. In order to have a successful capitalist economy people need incentives to produce. Socialist economies kill the incentive to go beyond, to open businesses, to work harder, because who would want to when the gains are simply stolen and distributed. Socialism only provides incentives for idleness.
Every advocate for "democratic" socialism fails on every count to put into words why anyone would put in the work, or take the risk, to go further to earn more, if those labors will simply be stolen and sent to those who do not work and/or refuse to provide for themselves. Where is the incentive?

Yeah fuck those migrants that are coming from war torn countries to better them selves and their families. Fuck those guys!
The scandavian countries do have capitilistic economies. Anyone can open a business and make a better life for themselves. NOT JUST THOSE THAT CAN CURRENTLY AFFORD IT. How can someone better themselves and go to college when they can hardly afford a roof over their head working a 40 hour week? So you say welfare reciapants are lazy? Well the facts don't agree. The facts state that 82% of people who receive food stamps can not physically work.
I'm going to assume that you hate welfare. What about the bail outs by the government for the big banks? What about Donald Trump declaring bankruptcy four times and yet still being worth 4 billion. How about Wall street which is like FIFA on steroids, paying next to nothing taxes and storing all their money in the cayman islands.
The United States will always be a capitalistic society.
Norway, Finland, Sweden and the rest are NOT socialist. they practice a more liberal form of capitalism that involves some socialist policies, but it's still capitalism.
Those of you that think the United States will magically become socialist if Bernie is elected need to come back to reality and recall how our government works.

To the first part, yes I agree, but drop all the war-torn country bullshit. They wanted their "Arab Spring" now they can reap what they sow. Stop flooding beautiful Europe with Islamic bullshit. They've made every nation they've invaded worse off. So yes, fuck them.
And for the record, who the hell taught you to spell? Or are you dyslexic?
Nice propaganda piece from the Huff Post, but no one is stupid enough to believe that 82% of the 47 million people on food stamps "can not physically work".
This explains my position quite well:
"In my youth I traveled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer. There is no country in the world where so many provisions are established for them; so many hospitals to receive them when they are sick or lame, founded and maintained by voluntary charities; so many alms-houses for the aged of both sexes, together with a solemn general law made by the rich to subject their estates to a heavy tax for the support of the poor. Under all these obligations, are our poor modest, humble, and thankful; and do they use their best endeavors to maintain themselves, and lighten our shoulders of this burden?
On the contrary, I affirm that there is no country in the world in which the poor are more idle, dissolute, drunken, and insolent. The day you passed that act, you took away from before their eyes the greatest of all inducements to industry, frugality, and sobriety, by giving them a dependence on somewhat else than a careful accumulation during youth and health, for support in age or sickness. In short, you offered a premium for the encouragement of idleness, and you should not now wonder that it has had its effect in the increase of poverty."

I think you are misunderstanding two key points: first, European countries (like Sweden, Germany, Austria, etc) are not purely socialist but instead are a mixture of state-run policies (i.e. a loose "socialism") and capitalism. As such, there is a huge mix of government funded policies & programs in combination with private policies/programs/businesses that provide the same personal incentives and rewards for hard work. Second, Bernie's proposals mimic these that I have just described and do not mimic the policies of Venezuela or cold-war Russia.
I live in Austria, and as such I experience these programs everyday. There is a "universal" public heath care system, free university (that only the best get into- no buying your way in like the USA), a great primary & secondary school system, strong environmental protection programs, democratically elected politicians that carry out their constitution, and at the same time private businesses that fully encourage their employees through incentives.
This is very similar to what Bernie proposes and as such allows for more government funded programs to help the less fortunate but at the same time allow a regulated capitalism to exist. That you think the two are mutually exclusive or are failing in some way is simply not accurate.
Ultimately, all of the systems of government presuppose that they are run properly in order to function properly. When you give examples of failed "socialist" governments, that does not necessarily mean that socialism/versions of socialism are always going to fail. Instead it only means they have failed because their leaders (who are fallible) made poor decisions and those mistakes led to failure.
CampeadorLet's see, name one that doesn't have severe problems caused by its misguided socialistic policies. Remember that your Scandinavian "paradises" are now being overrun by migrant colonists that the socialists invited in, all in the name of "equality" of course.
To this point specifically, there are (strongly popular) right wing parties in each of these governments that are fighting to kick out refugees and immigrants. Simply because a democratic socialist government exists, it does not mean that all people are egalitarians embracing this. This is the beauty of a multi-party system (here in Austria there are 5 main parties, but more exist)- you still get multiple view-points on issues and you still cast your vote to get things done.

Muslims have made every country worse? You know what I think makes countries bad??? Bigotry and ones lacking ability to accecpt other cultures. And considering that you're republican, and you love the economy. You'd actually know that immigration actually helps an economy with more economic growth. Toronto's last 5 years of economic growth within the city and GTA have all been because of immigration.
And I linked the huffington post because they summed up everything currently wrong with welfare. And propagana? If you actually read it instead of going "fuck fuck fuck he posted soures" you'd realise that they link to government reports. So I geuss when you actually look at facts instead of opinion that's "propaganda"???
But that Benjamin Franklin quote is wrong. It's so fucking wrong. Because like I've stated from stats, that welfare does help people get back on their feet quicker. If you provided a source that found that people on welfare were lazy and did not help them selves then yeah I'd be like "fuck yeah cut funding, start hustling" but considering that's not the case then you can continue to live your life in an ignorant bliss. We are done with this conversation unless you want to start presenting facts instead of opinion.

_Fluffy_your posts make this statement quite ironic.
How so? I already dealt with the 18-20 year old Obama cultists the first time around in 2008. The only difference with Bernie is that it's older, more tired, and more pathetic.
The 26th amendment was misguided, the lowered age should have only applied to those in military service, not easily-swayed, know-nothing poli-sci freshmen and high school students.

Name one European country that has been made better off then, should be easy if all immigration is such a great thing. The fact of the matter is that large-scale muslim migration always has a negative effect everywhere, whether it be Myanmar, Germany, Australia, the UK, or the US. Not one country in the entire world is better off for having invited in muslims, only worse off. I could happily give you plenty of examples of how countries are worse off if you'd like.
Here's a short article detailing just one of many examples of deep problems with welfare dependence programs, written by a journalist for a liberal publication no less.
Kill permanent welfare and we'll see how long welfare recipients are unwilling to "do the jobs that only illegal immigrant Mexicans will do". Eliminate all the fake "disabilities" as well. No more support for those who refuse to work.

Here's the nice thing about facts: you can find them to support Bernie's proposals and also right-wing conservative proposals. What you are clearly doing is taking one fact and trying to dismantle a political system based on it. That doesn't work. Not for you, not for Bernie's supporters.
If you want to dismantle a theory of political thought, you need to start from the beginning- from the ideas that the theory is founded on. So let's start.
Do you think that the function or role of the government is to merely protect its citizens from invasion or from killing each other (ie like Thomas Hobbes) and thus primarily (minimally) serve as a way to keep us in line and uphold our social contracts? Or do you think that the government serves the purpose to create a society that allows & promotes its citizens to achieve their full potential (ie like Aristotle, Rousseau, Locke, etc)?
The former is a negative definition of government, whereas the latter is a positive definition. There are others (which I invite you to bring into the conversation if you want) but I think those are the two (ultra)basic types which we run into today.
As such, many of the "socialist" governments in Europe are trying to achieve the latter. They are trying to build a society that yes has heavier taxes, but at the same time puts them to good public use. Rather than in America where it is very hard to see your tax dollars going to anything but funding wars, they build a better society with more programs in place that allow their citizens to better achieve their personal goals. We've listed a bunch already, there's no point to repeat them. Additionally, they mix into that system a business model founded on regulated capitalism that allows anyone to start any business they see fit and provide their incentives in the same way that the USA does.
When you do a shitty job at implementing those ideas, you will have shitty results. To blame the idea behind the system isn't very accurate because the idea itself is not flawed. Instead focus on getting the morons out of power. To Europe's growing immigration "problem", there will be democratic processes in place to solve the issue, and it is happening. Crappy laws lead to crappy results, so get new laws put into the system. The systems in Europe allow for it, but like all political systems, it takes time. With a 2 party system (that even our founding fathers warned against) this will be even harder to do and you will have a harder time getting any positive thing done. Good luck with that.

There is no problem with muslim immigration. You start these wars in the middle east, you ruin these peoples homes then you complain when they come seeking refuge from war? And unless you're native American, you've got immigrant parents so fuck off. Let me direct you to an image of a kid washed up on a beach dead. Do you think his parents put him on a boat just so they could bludge of a system?
However, considering that you love a good ol' free market. Shouldn't a truely free market allow anyone to migrate anywhere without restriction on how long they can stay? And allow market forces to determine where they migrate to?
And you'll say you'll give me examples of how countries are worse off with muslims? Well fuck if we're going to take a minority of the largest religion in the world and use it to justify not letting muslims in, then we should do it with everyone. No christians are coming into America, you're bringing more hate and terrorism with the KKK, and we will revoke your citzenship! You do realise that Muslims only make up 6% of all terrorists attacks?
And now to your final point about welfare. Is there problems with welfare? Yes there is. There are welfare cheats, there are people who are too lazy to get a job. However the majority of people on welfare use it and take advatange of it. And that's why welfare is found to help people get back on their feet faster than without welfare. HAHAHA, "get rid of fake disabilities". I'm sorry I didn't know you were a fucking doctor that specialises in fake disabilities. You must know all about those fake disabilities aye, with your many years of studying them aye? HAAHHA, you know fucking nothing. You've gone from saying that 83% of people on welfare is a lie to saying that they are faking their disabilities. You must have some great studies to back that up. And you've goine from saying that illegals take our jobs (which isn't true) to saying that take the jobs that everyone refuses to do? So in other words they are utilising market forces and immigrating to where the jobs are???
That's according to a new ABC/Washington Post poll released Wednesday that shows the Democratic presidential frontrunner's favorability at just 45 percent, while 53 percent view her unfavorably, her worst rating in 23 years. That puts her favorability down 7 percentage points since the last poll in mid-July, while her unfavorable rating has gone up by 8 points.
Dear lord you are truly a fucking idiot. Also, I quite like your loonwatch.com graphic, straight from the Shariah supporting, terrorist linked CAIR organization.
In 2013, Sunni Muslims accounted for the greatest number of terrorist attacks and fatalities for the third year in a row. Over 5,700 incidents were committed by Sunni Muslims, responsible for nearly 56 percent of all attacks and about 70 percent of 12,533 fatalities.
Another 24 percent of the fatalities are on Shi´a Muslims. So in 2011, Muslims were responsible for 94 percent of the fatalities in terrorist attacks. Since 2013, with ISIS on the scene, the number of the fatalities –victims of the Muslim terrorist attacks- sharply grew, together with Muslims´ share in the world terrorism that is steadily closing in on 100%
This information comes from the National Counterterrorism Center’s (NCTC) unclassified report. The NCTC provides the State Department with the statistical data it needs and was created to provide government agencies with this type of information.

It's actually from an FBI report but hey whatever.
And those numbers you quoted came from a story about muslim terrorism in Japan. And it said Japan has very low muslim immigration. Much like the rest of their immigration policy, but no where did you link the actual report. Just a news article, which also did the link the report.
Yes, ISIS is a problem. But ISIS isn't Islamic. And ISIS was also created when America pulled out Iraq... It's almost like when you invade countries for no reason and to enforce "freedom" and you destroy their country with war that those people develop a hatred for that country and people become radicilised. Remember, America has killed more middle east citizins than muslims have killed Americans... Also, you should find this point interesting as well. (refer to picture below)
And don't fucking link Australia like it has some sort of point. Tony Abbot and the Liberal party is a fucking joke of Australia. They paid people smuglers to turn their boats around. Any workers in detetion centres can be jailed for speaking out against the conditions. Abbot planned on checking random citizens passports to see if they were here legally. Australia has a history of accecpting immigrants. We as a coutnry are proud of our multi culturism. We celebrate it. There is a very small percentage of Australians that support reclaim Australia (30k facebook likes) which is riddled with hypocrisy and idiots. The majority of Australia supports immigration and Abbot will be out in the next election.
I also like how you left out a solid chunk of my response about immigration being a free market. And the picture of the kid drowned on the beach. And how about those examples of how countries are worse off with muslim immigration. And I like the name calling, must be rustiling some jimmies aye ;)

Half of what I wrote got cut off for some reason (probably due to the video, which then appeared out of context).
Immigration is not a "free market". However, if there were no social benefits then one could make a stronger case for this comparison (such as the U.S. in the late 1800s and early 1900s). You cannot have unlimited immigration and a welfare state.
And of course one of the most famous bits of Newspeak, "ISIS is not Islamic". If they are not Islamic, then what exactly are they might I ask? They seem to carry out Shariah law effectively, but then again I doubt Shariah is "Islamic" either.
Love live Australia, the only western country with an ounce of common sense. The rates of boat migrations to Australia, thanks in large part to Tony Abbot, have all but cut off the flow of migrants (who could forget all those illegal muslims from Myanmar floating out in the ocean earlier this year?). Unlike you socialist hypocrites, Tony Abbot realizes that he serves the interest Australian citizen first and foremost, above all else.
Multiculturalism is a lie (also take note of the spelling), it is a farce pushed by the left to increase their voter base. Since your ideas are so shitty, you need to import voters under the guise of "humanitarianism".
And hmm Americans have killed more Middle East "citizins" (do they even teach English at your school?), you say it as if it were some kind of competition that provides a justification. You were probably sad after those three men from Sacramento thwarted that "not Islamic" terrorist on the train to Paris. How do you explain Muslims becoming radicalized in the UK, in Holland, in France, and elsewhere in Europe? Isn't the narrative that they are peace-loving refugees? Also, I wonder who could be responsible for the upticks in violent crime, violent rape, and the rape of children? Rotherham ringing any bells? It must be just to get back at the bad, mean infidel.
The fact of the matter is that Islam is the most backwards ideology on Earth and must be countered at every opportunity. It's time for countries to abandon the EU and fight back. Cut off all economic aid to the entitled migrant colonists.
One last question, how come none of these "refugees" are being accepted by their kind and rich Arab and Iranian neighbors? Fellow Muslims after all. Perhaps it is because they are more opportunist colonists than refugees. The cowardly men from Syria that migrate should be the ones fighting back against ISIS, rather than letting their toddlers drown in the Mediterranean.
You ask if I give a shit about the drowned toddler in the Mediterranean, sure, it's a sad state of affairs. But I give much more of a shit about European children being victims of foreign invaders in their own countries. I give more of a shit about no other city becoming like Malmo, Sweden, or Dearborn, Michigan.
CampeadorMulticulturalism is a lie (also take note of the spelling), it is a farce pushed by the left to increase their voter base. Since your ideas are so shitty, you need to import voters under the guise of "humanitarianism".
For starters, I would like you to respond to my discussion about the roles of government. You seem to have skipped over it.
Secondly, if we apply the same line of argumentation that Conservatives love to use about gun control (namely, that guns don't kill people, people kill people) we do not blame the issue itself but instead condemn the will & motivations behind the people committing the crimes (which I do actually acknowledge & support), you will see that "immigration" is not a problem in and of itself, but instead only negative when those immigrants have immoral wills and motivations.
We can summarize both arguments in this way in that both rely on the will of the person in order to be made good or bad:
Guns don't kill people, people with bad wills kill people.
Immigration doesn't kill people, immigrants with bad wills kill people.
It's a true shame that natural born citizens (who remember had no control over being born in their own country) are sometimes attacked by immigrants within their country. Bad people exist everywhere, whether they are natural born citizens or immigrants from other countries. Some immigrants are bat shit crazy, just as some natural born citizens are bat shit crazy. But it doesn't mean that they are all bad or will lead to being bad citizens. Far from it.
Some of my friends here in Austria are teaching German to some refugees (each has a class of about 30) so that they can possess the tools and skills to make a new life here in Austria. The immigrants in these classes, are mostly adults, and are ALL extremely grateful and so thankful for being given the opportunity to have a new life without being surrounded my religious extremism. They are all learning the ridiculously complex language at a fast rate and if given the opportunity by their communities (read: not shunned or unrightfully stymied in any way) they will without question be good citizens and contributors to a healthy society. There are far more examples of this, rather than the opposite which obviously does exist. But just as in all cases of human interaction, you will have bad people and you will have good people. To say that immigration will lead to a worse off country is something that does not look at the facts but instead harps on the few negative instances and pulls at your emotional tendencies to condemn and self-serve.
You had no choice in the matter of being born in your country, just as they had no choice in the matter of being born in their country. But guess what- they got dealt the shitty end of the stick and are now looking to leave their war-torn, religiously extreme country and make a better life. Sure some will be bad people (as even with natural born citizens), but the majority are for sure genuinely looking to make positive contributions to their new country. They have been given the chance to start over and many acknowledge and respect that. And that's more than I can say about some natural born citizens.

Does the westboro baptist church represent all Christians?? ISIS is killing muslims too ya know.
Australia has common sense???
I'd love to hear you argue that multiculturalism is a lie in my social health and diversity class. you would realize quite fast how much of an idiot you are on this subject.
Since when is Iran kind or rich?
You cant even fathom the horrors occurring in the Middle East right now and your sitting behind a computer screen calling the men and women stuck in the middle of a civil war cowards?
You need to reevaluate your position and attempt to not be so full of hate.
im still waiting for an answer on whether you think my 75 year old grandma should work until she dies.
Dont be such a coward! Try and admit when you are wrong from time to time.

So you want your government to limit immigration and not allow market forces to determine where people can live? That sounds like a socialist policy to me.
I don't know what ISIS is. But the fact that they don't even own a Quran should show you just how well vested they are in their prophet muhammad and Islam as a religion. Maybe they're just a bunch of American hating extremists that grew as Americans involvement in the middle east grew.
And I'm laughing at you thinking Tony Abbot with "common sense". Abbot said himself that these refugee boats are supporting terrorism. But then it was later found out that he was paying these people smugglers to turn around. And Illegal muslims from Myanmar? The main religion in Myanamar is Buddhism... Only around 4% of Myanamar practice Islam. This just goes to show just how much of an uneducated bigot you are with zero knowledge to back up your ignorant views. HAHAHA Tony Abbot thinking about the Australian people? That's why there's currently a pretty big movement in Australia with painting "Real Australians say Welcome". And that has actually made Abbot into accepting more Syrian refugees. But to Abbot caring about the Australian citizen...That's why Tony Abbot only has an approval rating of 37%, because Tony totally cares about the Australian citizen and their views. That's why he's made marriage equality law, done a lot about climate change, that's why the budget has blown out by 17 billion. That's why he kept his promises to no cuts to the ABC/ SBS, no cuts to the age pension and no cuts to education. Stop bringing up Australia like it backs up any point you're making. When it doesn't. Abbot will be outed at the next election. (also note that even though Abbots party is called the Liberal party they are actually on the right of the political spectrum)
Multiculturalism is a lie to increase their voter base? That's why the more intelligent you are the more likely you are to be a liberal and leaning left?
How do muslims become radicalized in developed countries? Same way people like Dylan Roof became radicalized in America. A combination of being bat shit crazy, ignorance, hate and a leader. In this case the KKK for Dylan Roof and ISIS for muslims. And I'm laughing at how you bring up 10 muslims raping kids like that's totally Islam. Remember all the sex scandals at the hand of the Catholic church? Raping of little boys, and covering it up. But off course that doesn't represent Christianity does it? No, because any person with two brain cells to rub together knows that judging a majority off the actions of a minority is stupid. And did you know that there has been no studies linking immigration and violent crime together. It's actually on the contrary that immigrants (regardless of their legal status) are less likely to commit crime.
Love how you say "the fact of the matter is", like saying Islam is backwards is a fact. No that's an opinion. And the majority of Islam lets people live at their own accord. Ever had a muslim knock on your door asking if you've heard about God? Nope... The media has exaggerated a small percentage of the muslim community and presented that as what Islam is about. The neighbourhood over from me in Toronto is Muslim and they are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Always smiling, always friendly and when I ask them about how they react when they see stories like Muslims raping children they condemn the actions.
And to Iran, Saudi Arabia not taking refugees. (love how you put it in quotation marks like they aren't actually refugees escaping from war, they're just dole bludgers looking to rape your wife and bomb your school). Within the muslim community, they are discouraged from going to Saudi Arabia because of their poor record with respecting woman and how Saudi Arabia represents Islam as whole.
Cowardly men from Syria fighting ISIS? (again goes to show just how ignorant you are, with no actual knowledge of what is happening). Syria is fighting a civil war, not ISIS. But if you're so determined to kill all muslims, why don't you go join the army and kill ISIS. Or are you coward too? You think parents want to put their kids on boats, when they see stories like the kid that drowned? You think this is what they want? No, they just want to live a peaceful life like you and me away from war and persecution.
And European countries being victims of foreign invaders? That's laughable considering Europe has never invaded any country in the world for the sake of colonizing that country...

And to summarise my argument. Religion does not make you a good person or a bad person. Being athiest doesn't make you a good person or a bad person. Religion like anything at its core is dependent of the values of the person. If you have hate in your heart and a willfullnes to be ignorant then you will find a way to hate and justify it using religion. Just like some athiests justify being against gays using science to hide their true feelings.
CampeadorName one European country that has been made better off then, should be easy if all immigration is such a great thing.
_Fluffy_do you know how many old people are on welfare? You want to make my 75 year old grandma work until she dies?
Im not trying to be a dick but you are Misguided and uninformed.
_Fluffy_im still waiting for an answer on whether you think my 75 year old grandma should work until she dies.
In the case of you and your loser family, the answer is yes.
People should be responsible for their own retirement, like the private retirement system in Chile, where each person is obligated to pay into their own account (rather than pay into the broke ponzi scheme that is Social Security).
I'll write a counter when I have the time, since unlike most of you Sanders Socialists, I have a full-time salaried job and therefore limited time for debates with useful idiots.
