Can topsheet damage result in core damage?

I have some chips in my topsheets, some of which are deep enough to expose wood. I know that core shots left unfixed can lead to the core rotting. Is the same danger present with these topsheet chips? If yes, how should I fix them? Thanks.

Yes there is a possibility of that damaging your core, though it is not horrible because there is still a fair amount of epoxy and fiberglass on the core even if it looks like it is pure wood. The best way to fix it is get some two part epoxy from your local hardware store and apply it to the chip. Let is dry and then sand it down so that is smooth and will not chop off!!

What should I do here? My ski has about a 1.5cm crack that lifts up on one side and exposes fiberglass. It is at the tip so the wood is super thin but should I just leave it be?

Same as earlier in the thread but clamp it down well with a C clamp.

it would have to be a pretty big topsheet chip to warrant core rot. the pic you posted looks like there is still fiberglass. if your really weird throw some marine epoxy on them
