casey_copeFREESKIING HASN'T EVEN DONE QUADS YET!!! (ariels isn't free skiing)
casey_copeI've been seeing all this stuff lately about how quads and triples in the pipe are stupid and skiing shouldn't go in that direction and that this is really bad for skiing. But we gotta chill out because FREESKIING HASN'T EVEN DONE QUADS YET!!! (ariels isn't free skiing) I mean I know snowboarding has done them but skiing and snowboarding are two different sports and from what it sounds like, no one in skiing even wants to do a quad. So you can have your opinions on triples or style or whatever but enough about skiing quads. They haven't actually happened
NewEscuelersIn all seriousness, skiing is all about having fun. Let's just have fun.
Titsandwich11frank bare and steve corbett tossing quads on a jump they and their friends built is way more "freeskiing" than anything youve ever done. what a stupid distinction to make. and that was like 40 years ago... accept that it's part of the sport
theabortionatorSkiers will definitely do quads and that was one of the most painful posts I've read in a while OP.
casey_copeAerials are different than what we do. FREEskiing is more about creativity and uniqueness as well as doing big tricks. If someone did aerials style tricks in a slopestyle comp they wouldn't score high because there of lack of variety, style, and creativity. Also FREEskiing was meant to break away from aerials and those forms of skiing which is also why skiers nowadays always say, "freeskiing shouldn't turn into aerials." And also if aerials were so relevant in freeskiing how come all this fuck quads stuff hasn't been going on for 30 years?
S.J.WIt took Bobby Brown and Sammy Carlson just under 6 months after Torstein landed a triple to do a triple. Quads wil come to skiing soon enough, and when that day happens guess what? Nothing will change because none of the jumps at any comp are big enough to land one

Titsandwich11youre missing the point. what you don't realize is what you see as "aerials" was basically what we do, but 30-40 years ago. corbett's was a quad backy fuckin SENT on a whistler windlip, and bare's was basically that era's version of a quad cork--back then, flipping perfectly straight and on axis with your arms out was cool just like being off axis and grabbing is cool now. it's just trends and what's "cool." those quads were tossed, things changed, other stuff became cool, hell, 15 years ago a lot of people shrugged off dubs and trips as "circus tricks."
quads have happened, they will happen again, deal with it. i like "style, maaaan" more as well but the people trying to dictate what should or shouldn't be pursued in freeskiing are just a different brand of the people "newschool skiing" arose to escape
casey_copeI think some people are missing my point. I don't care what skiers do. Quads are sick and they take lots of skill and massive balls. I'm just saying there hasn't been a FREESKIER who has done a quad so let's stop acting like that we have and its the end of the world as we know it
Titsandwich11building a jump on a windlip and sending it 160 feet with a quad backy isn't freeskiing... okay write that down everyone, casey cope said so
youre making an erroneous claim to support some meaningless distinction. just drop it dude
