Fun things to do in the midwest?

I'm going to be out in Illinois in about a month, I'm looking for fun shit to do while im out there. like fun trip/adventure/risky type stuff, cool places to visit. It seems like there might be some cool hidden gem type of things out there. I've heard theres a lot of good rivers, caves, etc..
any tips?

Scalp tickets to college sporting events? Honesly thats the only reason I visit the midwest regularly.

You can always play some cheap golf too.


Thats about all I have other than watching TV in a motel room waiting for a phone call to meet somoene for tickets or jerking off in said motel room. You can also go on newschoolers but I think you already knew that.


Most of the midwest is nice enough if you don't have to live there and are just there for a little.

Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota actually have a shitload of stuff to do, especially in the Summer. States like Iowa and Ohio give us a bad rep.

climb some abandoned mills, buildings, or grain silos. I've never been ballsy enough to do it at some of the big mills in minneapolis because a lot of it involves climbing ladders on the outsides of the buildings where one false move means a 100ft fall to your death.

I like the urban exploring suggestion. how about good mountain biking? I'll be in champaign IL so within 5 or so hours would be good. was thinking of getting a paddle board or something and cruising rivers.

This though. People always say the Midwest is shitty but michigan has like 3 or 4 nationally acclaimed state parks, and some decent skiing if you get up to the U.P. Honestly Michigan has a ton of awesome shit if you get up north. Get outta Illinois or Ohio or Iowa that whole shitbelt.

Would highly recommend making a trip to Starved Rock State Park. It's beautiful. The only problem is it's along i80...which is north of where you'll be. and if you were going to be closer to me, i'd take you out for some wakeboard rips on my boat which is conveniently docked in my front yard.

Lots of cool nature areas and parks. I live about 40 mins from Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It's no Yellowstone but still a lot of fun

everyone knows those are the top 3 (in no particular order) Midwest states. The rest are just a bunch of corn-fed yokel fuckers.

Illinois is a pretty boring state unless your in Chicago. Save up money for lollapalooza, but I would really recommend camping in northern Wisco around the Minocqua area (theres lakes and woods everywhere). Also if you get the chance come to Lake Geneva, WI.

I live in northern IL! Visit chicago, there's an ass load of stuff to do. The bean, millenium park, field museum, art museum, tons of good places to eat. Go to a cubs game. It's every chicagoans excuse to drink lots of beer and eat hotdogs. If you ride bmx/mtb visit the garden dirt jumps. If you skate at all Chicago just put in a multi million dollar skate plaza, see if it lives up to the hype!

I think it was mentioned above but lake geneva is a beaut. If you're with your woman, take her out to eat at pier 290, and you'll get laid afterwards. Milwaukee is a short drive away, summerfest is chill, very cheap too. If you bike at all hmu I know multiple spots for dirt jumps.

THere's tons of camping and real fishing farther north in wisconsin, but if youre anywhere in the NW suburbs of chicago that's about it. Haha. Devils lake in Central WI is pretty cool. The dells if your white trash. If you're a golfer a trip to michigan would definitely be worth your time.
